VHS: Nothing at this time.
I'm sure Mr. Moore has some classic material he could loan you for the empty VCR ;)
Here's a side topic for everyone: what are your favorite live recordings?
I'm listening to Bette Midler's LIVE AT LAST and it's a joy ride! Another favorite was last year's Green Day release BULLET IN A BIBLE, which was one of the most exciting recordings I've ever heard.
DR MattH, I will be interested to note if you can get through the SINGING DETECTIVE. I begged my sister to tape this for me quite a while ago. But I hated every second of it and could not even get through more than 40 minutes of it. :(

Here is the newly-minted logo for the community reading program for which I trained 35 discussion leaders this week:
I am feeling considerably better this morning. Thanks to tylenol cold medication.
For every picture of a scantily-clad Tammy you post, I'll post a library picture.

How about if I start posting pictures of me in a bikini posing at the local library?
As welcome as all the aforementioned photos we've beenthreatpromised.
;D
I have the MOST scathingly brilliant idea!
Gee!
BRILLIANT has to be today's adjective!
DR Tomovoz has used it twice in a personal email to me today!
Then BK uses it at least twice if not thrice in today's column!
DR Pogue uses it too, so I can only say one thing: mais c'est brillant!
I had to double check to make sure this site had not moved to UK!
Let it shine!! ;-)

Allo Monsieur Francois!!
It is nice to see you again after an abscence... The sun is brilliantly shining here today after an Alberta clipper went sailing through the area last night....
I am home now and am going to flop in front of the TV (and probably take a nap).
But first...two Bollywood movies for the weekend...
First up is BARA DARI (1955). An action, romance picture starring Ajit (who later went on to play mostly villian roles), Geeta Bali, Pran, Cuckoo, and Minoo Mumtaz.
I have the MOST scathingly brilliant idea!
Hmmm, Dan in a bikini.....
Hmmm, Dan in a bikini.....
What makes him look reptillian
Is the brilliantine.
And if time permits then I will watch MUJHSE SHADI KAROGI (2005) starring Bollywood hunks Salman Khan and Akshay Kumar. This was one of THE top comedies out of India last year, and it was the #8 film in the U.K.!

Nevermind....the Mother Superior would catch us, I am sure.
The Trouble With Angels Page Four Dance!
Her binder is too tight! Loosen her binder!! 8)
(although that line might actually be from Where Angels Go, Trouble Follows!)
I think I'm going to do something I haven't done in years--read the latest Stephen King book. From what a few people have told me, CELL is a return to form for King and it's a relatively short read, at that. And since I have a 20% off coupon for Barnes & Nobel burning in my pocket...

Pardon my saying but that should be "brillantine" since the word is French! 8) ;)
No offense to Tammy, she is a lovely person but I prefer Matt Ashford....

Is "Barbara Streisand and Other Musical Instruments" included on this boxed set?
I guess when you are Isaura Garcia, you don't have to care how you look on an album cover...
Live album: "Follies" In concert.
Yes!! "Follies In Concert"!! ;D
Is "Barbara Streisand and Other Musical Instruments" included on this boxed set?
Did Hal David write lyrics for "Baby Elephant Walk"?
I've wondered why he shares the credits.
(I don't have the Soundtrack album).
Thank you DtM - we enjoyed it very much.
Hmmmm...I didn't know it had lyrics. ;D Interesting.I can't imagine any lyrics at all!
DR Jennifer, I know you and some others who watch the show will be interested in this press release I read just now on the net:
" Filming has begun on the second season of TNT's top-rated crime drama, The Closer, starring Kyra Sedgwick. Season two premieres summer, 2006. "
I meant to mention that the others are MY NAME IS BARBRA, COLOR ME BARBRA, THE BELLE OF 14th STREET, A HAPPENING IN CENTRAL PARK, and the aforementioned OTHER MUSICAL INSTRUMENTS.
DR MATTH - I think that Match Game theme you are thinking of is Swingin' Safari! I have it on a Billy Vaughn CD.
Can someone tell me what is the theme of the game show THE MATCH GAME (with Gene Rayburn). For years, I thought it was "The Baby Elephant Walk," but I know now that it isn't. But what is?I think you're referring to the original Match Game. The theme used was "A Swingin' Safari" by Bert Kaempfert. I had the recording when I was a twig; it was the recording that made me realize that music could be lifted from one source and used elsewhere.
DRFRANCOIS that is just too bizarre!
Bert Kaempfert composed it and had a hit single....Evey record store seemed to be playing the album of the same name back in the early sixties.. The album sold so well but the hit single here was by Billy Vaughn as it was in the USA. Strange but true!!
Thank you for the brilliant lyrics François.. Has anyone ever recorded them?
Good Afternoon! Good Evening!
It truly was a perfect afternoon for a run. The sun was out, the temp was in the low 60's - no chill in the air, and since it had rained in the morning, the air was "not dry".
I ended up running from one bridge to the other - the 14th to the Key Bridge and back again. I'm guessing it was just a bit over six miles. I wanted to run for an hour, and I ended up running for about an hour and ten minutes. -And when I was back at my starting point, I felt like I could have run a little bit more.
The route took me by the Lincoln Memorial, the Kennedy Center, the Georgetown Waterfront... And on the way back, I made a loop around the Reflecting Pool, the WWII Memorial and the Jefferson Memorial.
And now...
I just received the official revised rehearsal schedule for Lestat... As the Pointers Sisters would say... I'm so excited!
;D
Indeed major syncronicity (a Police reference) DR JMK. We ALL look forward to the recording!!!!
It's always tricky to spell intricacies! ;) :D
Usually I admire the intracies of the Hal David lyrics -
It's always tricky to spell intricacies! ;) :DAnd to proof read! But not to modify!
All????
I don't! :o :o ;D
Be careful or I may be forced to whistle Swingin' Safari in your general direction. ;)
Has Percy Faith ever recorded it?
I'm logey!!!!!!!!!!!!!

From Ron
liked the show...and Davis, especially...but Sutherland became wearisome in the early going....on one show, he'd get the upper hand...on the next, Davis would seize it back...I had neither the strength nor interest in watching this yo-yo of a show continue in that vein.
Ginny, Brad Pitt as Emilio :o ::)
I only have a short time to catch up on the notes & posts and then I’m back to getting some work done around here.
DakotaCelt THE CLOSER is one of our favorite shows.
Ginny does Pitt own the rights to the book? I can't think of any other reason he would be cast in the lead.
for others who want to see

GO, STEELERS! GO SEAHAWKS!
Be sure to take before and after photos Cillaliz!
Just don't add the Iwo Jim Memorial to that run...you might get sidetracked.
Dakota if you can catch the show from the beginning it would be great, but not necessary.
I'm home. And tired.
I thought Deceit was brilliant. There were many possibilities bouncing around in my head (and there's plenty of room for things to bounce in there) but I didn't guess the final outcome.
This afternoon I stopped at the Salton Sea and took a walk. But since I forgot to take my camera, I can't post the photo I didn't take.
Note to DR Stephanie -- I accidentally bought a ticket for the wrong night (see what happens when you buy things online when you are not wearing your glasses?) So if you would like a free ticket for February 23, please email me at DearReaderLaura@hotmail.com and I will send it to you.
DRLaura, I can you send a PM with Stephanie's email addy...
Sure
That WOMAN IN WHITE press release from the link was absurd. Yes, obviously there have been sick cast members, but if the show were selling more than 58% capacity, they wouldn't care if understudies were playing every major role. They're not closing the show because people have been sick.
Or, are they saying that the absences of these two talented (but hardly huge box-office draws) leading players - Maria Friedman and Michael Ball - are what has dented the box-office? It couldn't be that the show was just never going to be a big draw in NYC?
Sounds like I'm not alone!! Imax musical with little going for it!!
Not even Judy Kuhn could save it for me! Or were you intending to sit with her DR Jose?
Go! Go! Go!
Ohh... And according to another press release, Lance Armstrong and Sheryl Crow have split...
:-\
Back from the show. Tammy had her best show tonight, we had a terrific and just about full house, Matt was great in act one, and a bit too big in act two (not his fault, however) - my other actor, after having one of his best shows last night, came in and completely forgot everything that had worked, mis-timed every single laugh, and while it didn't kill the act, I would like to have killed him.
Hello DR TCB. Everyone else has left the building.
I have a commerical shoot (PSA) starting tomorrow morning at 11:00 a.m. I was hoping to sign on to HHW for a couple of hours before that, but now they are saying that our big Northwest wind storm may arrive by about 7:00 a.m. So, I will have to wait and see if it is safe to sign on to my computer in the morning.
"Jump" George.
I did!! And they did! And the whole audience did! I'm back from seeing The Pointer Sisters in Concert. I didn't get to see the entire concert. I got to the theater at about 4:20 and the actual show didn't start until 8:00. They had a gala pre-show dinner at 6:00 before the "regular" ticket holders were allowed in at 7:30. I was cleaning up concessions at the beginning of the concert, then I got to see about the last 35 minutes and then I had to help with things going on after the concert.
CenterFest is the Washington Center for the Performing Arts' annunal fundraiser, so the gala events before and after the show were for people who paid a lot of money to the theater. I brought my CD of Ain't Misbehavin' just in case, although I really didn't expect to be able to get it autographed. But some of the ushers had to go backstage to help the performers and they were able to get it autographed for me!! If my scanner worked (anyone know anything about a TWAIN driver??) I'd scan the cover, but it doesn't, so I can't...yet.
The three sisters are Anita, Ruth and June Pointer, but June wasn't there. Anita's daughter Issa was the third part and she fit like a glove. She's been with the group since 2002. All three of them were amazing and it was also amazing that Ruth and Anita still had energy and talent and personality. They interacted with the audience and even mentioned that they're glad to be in Olympia (sometimes performers look like they have no idea where they are). According to an article in the local paper:
“The Sisters are particularly looking forward to the show in Olympia, because they have family in the area. Their brother, Aaron Pointer, is president of Metro Parks Tacoma.
“He and his family have been up there for 30 years,” she said. “He’s a wonderful young man, my older brother. We’ll see him at the concert and hang out afterward.”
Neat... and a homecoming of sorts for them...
I didn't get to meet them (they didn't come out to the lobby), but it was a great performance. I got my CD signed and I got to see some of the concert...not all, but enough. ;D
We will be very unhappy if COMMANDER IN CHIEF is cancelled. The more we watch the show the more we like it. We like the direction the show has taken and Sutherland’s character has more dimensions to it now. Growth in the characters on a show is nice, keeps it from stagnating.
And now to ketchup with the posts. ;)
Was it one of Plastic Bertrand's songs? or by "Telex"?
They're the only Begium acts I remember other than The Singing Nun.
DR George, a question for you...
I know you work in a library, How does your library handle individuals with cell phones?
I am asking especially when itconcerns the circulation desk?
Well, actually, I don't work in a public branch. I work in the administrative headquarters (the Service Center), so I don't deal with the public at all. I have no idea how the front-line staff deal with things like that...if they do. I could ask around and let you know, sometime next week, if you'd like.
Notes are up five minutes ahead of schedule.
