DR Ginny and I were once in a Nadir Production of AUNTIE MAME in which the flaming Mame drinks set fire to the stage (oy!).
There will be ONE tech in the booth with me - I'll be calling the show, running the slide projector, and cueing the manually-operated sound cues. At one point, there will be a blackout AND a sound cue, simultaneously - so in all my free time today, I have to ask the tech to show me how to run the light board - (I would do the sound cue - but the sound equipment is way at the back of the booth, with NO view of the stage... hahahahahahaaaaa!!!!
Another Op'nin', Another Show
PAUL & ENSEMBLE:
Another op'nin', another show
In Philly, Boston or Baltimo',
A chance for stage folks to say hello,
Another op'nin' of another show.
Another job that you hope, at last,
Will make your future forget your past,
Another pain where the ulcers grow,
Another op'nin' of another show.
Four weeks, you rehearse and rehearse,
Three weeks and it couldn't be worse,
One week, will it ever be right?
Then out o' the hat, it's that big first night!
The overture is about to start,
You cross your fingers and hold your heart,
It's curtain time and away we go!
Another op'nin',
Just another op'nin' of another show.

I shall now be on my way to do this and that and also that and this, and will be heading over to the theater to meet Dale, to set up the new DVD player and do some extensive tests with it.
Off to Broadway.com
Attention all musical theatre lovers!
I have just found the most maaahvelous web-site. It purports to have "librettos" of dozens of shows. Actually, some are just lyrics, others libretti.
But where is it? In Russia, of course. Just like that great First Nudie Musical site.
You can get to the main page here. (http://libretto.musicals.ru/letter.php?language=2)
The site is primarily in Russian, but the libretti are in English, as well as a few other languages.
Happy browsing!
It's already tomorrow here Jose.. you were brilliant.
Continuing wonderful vibes frrom Magnus, Fosca, Colin and myself.
Anna Maria Allbepanni. Wasn't she in "Carnival"?In Eastern Europe yes; not on Broadway! ;)
Hello Maria! You are an asset to the Abbey.
Okay. I did it. Seems to have worked. Wow! Nice to be able to say hello and not just lurk.

Jack: When it comes to fashion, I’m on very shaky ground, I warn you.
Jennifer: All right, but I need you here to hold me up. Because if you weren’t here, I couldn’t do this. I just couldn’t. I’d probably quit.
Jack: Okay, if I promise to stand by your side, will you a demonstration of some of these…some of these words, like…umm…dee-co-le-tage.
Jenn: Decolletage. JACK!!!

We once saw the Houston Ballet do SWAN LAKE and the main ballerina started across the stage and tripped and fell. Later in the scene, a gallant gentleman in the company started across the stage, stopped at the exact spot, bent down and picked up something off the floor and put it in his tunic.... as if to say...."you see....it wasn't HER fault!"
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
Jose I loved your stage stories.
I hope all is going well at various theaters tonight. :D
Who's Afraid of Virginia Woolf?
THat is an interesting movie with many different layers...
Had a frustrating day at the office today. I was hoping to get many count them many returns done, but got snagged when a broker statement gave a $450,000 loss to someone on a transaction, and it was just - well, not possible. With the client being Orthodox Jewish (and it being Saturday) and the broker being closed on the weekend obviously, we lost hours having to research it ourselves and I think I got three returns done where I should have gotten many done - Saturdays are usually my most productive day.
That felt good to rant. I feel much better. Forget I said anything. :)
Francois - Thanks. I knew if anyone would understand, you would. :)
Robbie - Yes, Skip sends his love to Laura, as do I, although she probably won't remember me that well.
I'm all shaved and showered, lines run as much as I can run them (if Matt's there early enough, I may do a line-through with him), and I shall shortly be on my way to the theater.
I'm going now. I've already missed the beginning of The Lawrence Welk Show. DVD vibes for BK.
Off to a friend's graduation party way downtown. Got her what we hope are appropriate gifts for someone getting a Master's degree - we shall see how they go over.
I thought about getting her a copy of THONG AND DANCE, but passed on that.

François interesting story.
Nine months till Christmas!
The Vixter met George Takei and Cassandra Peterson and had her picture taken with them... I have to figure out how to resize it so I can post it here, I keep getting told its too big and then poof off the site I am thrown as punishment.
DR MARIA have you seen Debbie Reynolds lately?
Maria, any upcoming projects that you can talk about?
Back to work. i just spent the last hour trying to get my wireless printer to print. Plugged and unplugged everything and nothing helped. Then I did it once more -- and suddenly it worked. Go figure.
LIZA WITH A 'Z' airs on Showtime on April 1. The DVD special edition of the program with documentaries and other special features goes on sale April 4th.
It's like losing daddy and shopping around for a new one.
Thanks, Matt. There are hours of extras on the DVD. Should be good.

I'm juggling a number of things, TCB. Thanks for asking. Just finished an animated feature which is something totally different for me. Excited at the prospect, but we shall see.
Also working on a Western feature which is great fun - and again something quite different.
And a couple of TV-movies. One has just changed Networks - am waiting to hear the outcome of where it's landed. I've been busy, thank goodness. ...And I'm in the midst of changing agents - which is scary. I've been with the same agent for MANY years. He left the agency business, and it's just not the same without him. So I'm looking around for a new "home." It's like losing daddy and shopping around for a new one.
Next I finished SUMMER MAGIC.
First, let me clarify my feelings about the transfer. It is a beautiful job. What threw me earlier is that Dorothy McGuire's medium shots and close-ups were filmed with a slight soft focus, and watching the first thirty minutes today with some light coming into my den from outside, I guess I misread the look of the transfer as not being at its best. Seeing the remainder of it tonight in a totally darkened room, I saw that it was a first rate transfer. Thoroughly enjoyable.
And how heartbreaking to see James Stacy looking so youthful and healthy (before his tragic motorcycle accident a few years later). Peter Brown was jaw-droppingly gorgeous, too.
I can see that it would have seemed hopelessly old fashioned and corny when it was released in the 1960s with the Beatles making such a splash all over the world (and it was indeed a major box-office disappointment for Disney). But it was a very pleasant way to spend this evening tonight for me.
So I'm looking around for a new "home." It's like losing daddy and shopping around for a new one.
The QUEER AS FOLK online fan letter started pre-selling the 'LIZA WITH A Z' DVD earlier this week. Now, it is beyond me what gay people and Liza Minnelli could possibly have in common, other than husbands.
Oh, I know that feeling!
TCB, I have a question.....
ARe you familiar with the nordic museum in Seattle?
Hi all. I decided to shop for paint colors for my home office and well. I was just going to put a little on the wall to see what it looks like....I now have 3 walls painted "rejuvenate" aka light green. I have a bunch of adhesive to clean off the last wall from the former owner's mirrored wall - pretty out there for a lawyer turned baptist minister.... anyway love the new paint. I'll finish tomorrow
I'm a little too late to wish vibage to Jose and BK...but I've been thinking it.
Funniest line of the day. :) :) :) :) :) ::) ::) :) :) :) :)Oh, I know that feeling!
TOD - I was in a community theatre production of The Music Man in a small town where I used to live. Whoever was doing set decided that the easiest way to do the lamp post was to take a rubberball, paint it white and fasten it to the top of a post. It didn't look too bad, actually, but they forgot to fasten the ball, so in the middle of the barbershop scene, someone touched the post and the "light" fell off and bounced across the stage.
Funniest line of the day. :) :) :) :) :) ::) ::) :) :) :) :)

Follow the bouncing ball Barbershop Sing Along?

Beware of the answer!!!!
Do you mean the Nordic Heritage Museum? I know where it is, andI have seen it, but I have never been inside. Hell, my paternal grandmother was Nordic Heritage, we didn't need a museum.
Where in the Hell can that boy, Jose, be? it is almost midnight in New York. Doesn't he know we worry???
You are SO BIAISED!! :-\ :P :(But totally impartial in my bias.
Maybe he was so tuckered out after his performance, he went to bed.
Well, while we're waiting we could play "How many times do you see Jose in the Broadway.com video"
I hope you'll tell us how the show ends! :D
Alone?
I counted 7 or 8, but I'm counting the long shots near the beginning when you can see him briefly if you know where to look
They all sang "Applause."
I'm hungry.
I don't know! I only had eyes for Mr Haak! :D
Now that you mention it, I'm hungry, too. I didn't eat dinner, I was on a painting frenzy
Well, while we're waiting we could play "How many times do you see Jose in the Broadway.com video"
Woosh! After leaving the room and getting some toast and peanutbutter, I came in and wow are there paint fumes! I had the window open earlier, but now it's pretty bad. Think I'll head into the other room
Did you get your Comcast DVR installed, DRMBARNUM?
And how was that date with the South Beach guy?
Back from a post show supper with Tammy's friend Lauren and her husband and friend. Tammy, of course, went off to be a "bad" girl at some party. That's what she does these days. Not a day goes by that she isn't at some party being a bad girl. It's a phase, I suppose.
Tonight's show was better - nice crowd, vocal, and I was much more at ease. I only fumfered on one line (one I've never had a problem with before), and I mis-timed a couple of laughs, but then again, I got several nice laughs in unexpected places. Best of all, the video worked fine.
And now, I must go to work, after which I'll be ushering for a local semi-professional production of "The Game of Love & Chance! (http://www.harlequinproductions.org/seasonpages/06game.html)" by Marivaux, translated by Stephen Wadsworth. It should be quite good.
Until later. :)
Hello, all! I've come back under a new name as there was a problem accessing the site with my old moniker....
