Well, you've read the notes, you are marching into April with head held high, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home - they're marching into April, as well, and they can't be bothered now.

Guten Tag Mr Moore!

I'm listening to WMKV right now and I will listen to other things (probably the BBC and AccuRadio) throughout the day. I want to listen to Just a Minute, a BBC program that has been around for many years. It's available on the Listen Again feature. Apparently a person must speak for exactly one minute on a subject assigned to them. The person must speak in complete, understandable sentences and not use expressions like "um" and other fillers. The winner is the person who speaks for a minute and fills all the requirements. Due to the difficulty there is not a winner every week. It's supposed to be a hoot.

We have a party tomorrow evening. Anthony also has dance class on Saturday afternoon. Sunday is free so it's an Anything Can Happen day. I will probably watch the episode of Will and Grace that I taped last night. I haven't watched the show for a couple of years now but since it will be over soon I decided to watch some of the last episodes. It only serves to confirm why I stopped watching the show. I can't defend it at all. I won't rant too much but I think it's become a sodden, unfunny mess. It's sad that this once funny, witty, well-done show has sunk to this level. Enough said about that.

I haven't posted much over the past few days because I've been busy at work. I will try to make up for it today.

Carla, where is the brooch?????

"Will & Grace" is limping toward some sort of conclusion in the upcoming weeks, but damned if I know what it is since all resolutions seems to be dying faster than George W's honesty.  As far as I'm concerned, this show jumped the shark several seasons ago and never recovered its charm nor its humor.  I think the final episode should involve the euthanasia of the principals and let the audience bury the mess.

King Tut (King Tut)
Now when he was a young man,
He never thought he'd see
People stand in line to see the boy king.

(King Tut) How'd you get so funky?
(funky Tut) Did you do the monkey?
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia (king Tut).

(king Tut) Now, if I'd known
they'd line up just to see him,
I'd trade in all my money
And bought me a museum. (king Tut)

Buried with a donkey (funky Tut)
He's my favorite honkey!
Born in Arizona,
Moved to Babylonia (king Tut)

Dancin' by the Nile, (Disco Tut)
The ladies love his style, (boss Tut)
Rockin' for a mile (rockin' Tut)
He ate a crocodile.

He gave his life for tourism.
Golden idol!
He's an Egyptian
They're sellin' you.

Now, when I die,
now don't think I'm a nut,
don't want no fancy funeral,
Just one like ole king Tut. (king Tut)

He coulda won a Grammy,
Buried in his Jammies,
Born in Arizona, moved to Babylonia,
He was born in Arizona, got a condo made of stone-a,
King Tut

**Happiest of Birthdays to DR Ann!**

Lovely pics yesterday, Dear Reader Laura.

DVD - Dick Cavett - Comedians, V2
CD (car) - The Stages Benefit (Is that the title?)

Just in case anyone misunderstood my post late last night re the male moderator... I have nothing against men generally. Really, guys - you're A-Okay in my books.
It's simply that he wasn't all that great in his role. Had he been a fabulous moderator, I don't think anyone would have had major objections. But the fact that it was a man interviewing 12 women in an evening about women --  and said man wasn't doing a great job, made it seem like a bizarre choice.

I'm off this morning to an important appointment. Haven't said this in a while - but Good Vibes from the nice folks at HHW would be much appreciated.

Overcast morning here. Actually, during my workout, some dark clouds rolled in and I had to turn on the lights. I was sure we were in for a drenching, but they cleared away and it's back to being just gray. Rain expected this afternoon, so I doubt a walk will happen.

Thank you, DR Maria, for the summary of last evening's panel discussion. Sorry it wasn't quite up to your expectations. Yes, Angela Lansbury has done it all and always with such class and integrity. No wonder when TV GUIDE took a survey of the most beloved performers in show business about 10 years ago, her name was at the head of the list. Testamonials from many actors, technicians, and friends praising her warmth, generosity, and thoughtfulness.

Follow-up on the moving of THE AMAZING RACE into the timeslot occupied by OUT OF PRACTICE and COURTING ALEX.

The two CBS comedies are now on hold with no set date for their return. What a mess! Both shows were doing fine on Monday night, and now CBS has two albatrosses on its hands by fiddling with success. And I really like OUT OF PRACTICE (less enthusiastic about COURTING ALEX).

This is the first i've heard about moving THE AMAZING RACE TO WEDNESDAYS at 8pm. Did they announce it at the end of the show? I wonder what CTV (the Canadian station) is gonna do. They already have Lost at 8pm and American Idol at 9pm.

Normally i would be happy about the move. But i go see the baby on wednesdays at 8pm.

I am curious though how fans are supposed to know about the change? Will it still be on tues at 10pm this coming week?

And DR MattH, when you break news that we don't know, why do you always say "i'm sure you've all heard by now"? :)

Well, I don't guess Canadians get the promos there that are aired here, but I must have seen the announcement ten times last night during CSI and WITHOUT A TRACE. Since those are among the most popular shows on American TV, I assumed at least some of the TV viewers here would have seen the announcements.

The announcements were also all over the internet including the Zap2It, TV GUIDE, and E! websites.

And no, it will not be on Tuesday at 10 p.m. here. The change to Wednesday starts this week.

Don't know what the deal was with FJL's posts but they were all weird (perhaps a link was too long - something was split over two lines), so I had to delete it - hopefully he'll post whatever info it contained (couldn't even make sense of it, if there was info, which I presume there was.

Sometimes theinternet is like that.  ;D

So Matthew and Nathan are on sale - certain seats at certain performances have been obtained by Playbill.com...interesting.

I guess I never thought they were a fit for the parts....I can't remember if anyone saw the show and talked about it here....hmmmm....   ???

I would imagine just a few moments from her MANCHURIAN CANDIDATE performance would have set the room buzzing.

...And applauding, They showed the chilling scene in which she finally tells Laurence Harvey exactly what is going to happen and why. And ends the speech with a very unmotherly kiss. IMHO one of the most shocking moments ever put on screen.

Thanks all for the Good Vibes!

I asked my sis if she heard and she said she saw the promo last night during Survivor.  I don't watch Survivor on CBS, so I didn't see it.  See here Survivor is on Global and TAR is on CTV.  Plus i do not watch CSI or Without a Trace.

I know what you mean DRDANISE.

It's like you haven't been away...once you go back.

DRMATTH - since I don't watch much CBS television I hadn't heard about the move for THE AMAZING RACE either....I don't remember that they mentioned it during the credits last week or anything, so I am glad you said something.

Now I won't have to sit through THE UNIT waiting for THE RACE.....of course I always channel surf a bit.....  With the move of OUT OF PRACTICE to Wednesday, it shapes up to be a better night for me!

It concerns me that not all fans of the show will know about the move. I guess they will continue to promo it. But they should have mentioned it after this week's show. That would be the fair thing to do.

I guess since many people watch Thursday night tv on CBS some people will know.  But they should realize that not everybody watches those few shows that were on last night.  And promoting it on one night (even if it was 10 times) is not really enough.  And since both DR JRand and I had no idea ...

What do you guys think about the new day and time? I really wish they had done tuesdays at 9pm.  I think when you have a hit you should keep the same day and time.

I know wednesdays are more popular for tv viewing. But soon ALIAS will be on that night and time too! :(

My sister mentioned that CTV will probably end up having to show LOST at 7pm (since american idol must be shown live at 9pm, and probably TAR has to be shown same day and time as US).

For those who watch Antiques Roadshow, In april they are broadcasting some programs they taped in Bismarck, ND. Not sure if i made the cut or not....

YOU went to a taping of "Antiques Roadshow," too??  Did they actually tape you or were you just in the background, like me?  I went to the taping in Portland, Oregon in June of 2004 and I can be seen in the background when they appraise a big, giant blue bowl.  Afterwards, I met in person JMK (Jeff) and his DW Betsy (and kids...they live in Portland), Jane and her DH Keith and MBarnum (Michael).  It was a lot of fun.

I like this move in that it will make watching TAR more convenient and make Wednesday night a more exciting TV night (maybe too exciting--my heart is sometimes beating fast enough after TAR;  to go straight into LOST might be strenuous.)  However, it's never a good sign for a show to have it's time slot changed so suddenly.  It like a step away from being put on "hiatus".

Do professional showbiz folk have a catchphrase for the final performance?  Once, during a closing weekend of a play I did at Rutgers Camden, the stage manager pinned up a newspaper headline about the local Campbell Soup plant closing down that read "The Last Can of Beans Rolls Off the Line in Camden."  The phrase stuck around for subsequent productions.

Well, I hadn't heard about it. I don't watch Without a Trace or CSI

BK - I really am getting middle-aged because I can't remember what I posted the giberrish (sp?) about.  It must have been something insignificant, like a tax tip that could have saved everyone here thousands of dollars in taxes, or maybe the solution to Disney's problems over a section of the audience not being able to see anything at TARZAN.  But it couldn't have been anything important, otherwise i would have remembered.

:)
Title: Re:MARCH INTO APRIL
Post by: FJL on March 31, 2006, 11:44:50 AM
BTW, if anyone from Disney reads this board, and they should, why not just price those six rows of TARZAN seats where people can't see a third of the action at $25 and then everyone will just shut up.  Disney will still make a fortune on the show, and it'll make the market for the best (and heaven help us, premium) seats even hotter than it is right now.

Oh My!   What was he doing? Copying software and reselling it as new?  Was the high sentence for copyright infrigment or for counterfeiting or for selling "stolen goods"?"

He was copying copies of software, Quark, Adobe, Microsoft etc and selling the copies as used software or backup copies.  He plead to copyright infringement.  The guidelines are based on the retail value of the software, which in several cases was very high. Part of his sentence will be after he is released he will notify people through eBay mail or other ways what can happen if you copyright software.  It was actually his idea to do that and it helped get his sentence a bit lower.

Re: maybe the solution to Disney's problems over half the audience not being able to see anything at TARZAN

I heard (at least this is what Disney publicity is saying, that it's just the last four rows of the orchestra that are partial view. Apparently some of the scenes take place in the air and those in the last four rows of the orchestra won't be able to see what's happening. The Disney people stress that the scenes are VERY SHORT and won't affect your enjoyment of the musical at all, and in fact, the seats in the mezzanine and balcony (The Richard Rodgers FKA 46th Street Theatre has a very high balcony) are very good for seeing those scenes. They also said they make ticket buyers aware of the partial view from those orchestra seats.
Title: Re:MARCH INTO APRIL
Post by: Ben on March 31, 2006, 11:50:55 AM
4, 6 it's only two rows. Anyway, they are already giving discounts at preview performances. The last rows of the balcony are $38 dollars IIRC. I think they go up to $50 on May 10th when the show opens. You're right, they should charge $25 for the partial view seats. But Disney being Disney, I doubt they will listen to you (FJL) or me.

Ben - Yes, I was exaggerating and I'll go back and edit that first post of mine.  I'm actually very much pro-Disney and totally appreciate Disney's side in this.  The warning about the last few rows of the orchestra has been out there for a very long time; Disney has been very good about spreading the word on it when people buy their tickets.

No, his security level is very low. If the Bureau of Prisons sends him to the facility that the judge recommended, it won't be too bad. It's the male equivilent of where Martha Stewart did her time.  It's a former private college in Yankton, SD and still looks like a college. It's a minimum security facility. It's intended for short timers (18 months is a short sentence in federal court) and those who are low security risk - ie, no violence, no guns etc.

There are maximum security prisons. The super max is in Florence, CO. It's where most of the "big name" criminals end up.

This is how a minimum security facility is described by the BOP

Minimum Security

Minimum security institutions, also known as Federal Prison Camps (FPCs), have dormitory housing, a relatively low staff-to-inmate ratio, and limited or no perimeter fencing. These institutions are work- and program-oriented; and many are located adjacent to larger institutions or on military bases, where inmates help serve the labor needs of the larger institution or base.

He was a good sport at the dress rehearsal of 70 GIRLS 70, considering he was easily the youngest person there. His first night in New York and he sees Neil Simon, Stephen Sondheim, and John Kander in person. Not too shabby.

Not to mention DR Jason who we happened to run into with his friend Ken who hosts a cable access show.

Wait a minute..... your nephew sees Neil, Steve, and John AND he gets to see the real DR Jason?????  What more could any kid ask for?

It concerns me that not all fans of the show will know about the move. I guess they will continue to promo it. But they should have mentioned it after this week's show. That would be the fair thing to do.

They didn't know then, Jennifer. The decision wasn't made until the ratings came in on Thursday morning about Tuesday's lame RACE ratings on Tuesday and OUT OF PRACTICE/COURTING ALEX terrible finish on Wednesday. That's when the network decided they needed to switch RACE somewhere else or risk losing one of their longtime, prestige hits (winner of the last two Emmys for Best Reality Series). They released a statement to the press (picked up on the websites I mentioned) and started last night promoing the move on the network. I'm sure there will be promos EVERY night for the next week alerting fans of the move.

You joined us after October didn't you DakotaCelt?  Last October MBarnum, Ginny, Danise, Cillaliz and Jane all flew in, Woody & DerB drove up and the Vixter & I drove in  to the Big Apple and DR Jose led us all on a walking/eating tour of NYC acompanied by TPunk & DR Jason!  The day before the WET Danise, The Vixter & I  toured Central Park, including the zoo and the carousel after first touring the American Girl Place with Jane, Cillaliz & Ginny. That evening we all met up again and had a nice dinner after a short visit with elmore & Ben. It was wonderful.

At the end of the WET, WFO joined us and the Vixter & I left
and they rest of the group met up with Ben, Rodzinski & elmore and all went to FJL & Skip's place to start an evening of HHW merriment.

I shall have to find some of the pictures to post for you.  It was a wonderful couple of days  :D

Spent the start of a pleasant afternoon (the rain clouds moved away and blue skies came calling) walking and then settling in with a couple of episodes from the MURDER SHE WROTE box to finish it up.

Wonderful guest stars as always: Bruce Davison, Joseph Campenella, Marie Windsor on one episode. Martha Scott, June Havoc, Richard Beymer on another.

Thanks DR MattH.  But any one of us Amazing Race fans could have told them to keep the show tues at 9pm. 10pm is too late, since many families like to watch.

It just bugs me when networks constantly switch shows around, and cancel shows after only an episode or two.

If I was CBS though, I would have just switched TAR to 9pm and The Unit to 10pm.

I do actually think wed at 8pm could be a good time period for Amazing Race.  It's just too bad CBS doesn't have a hit show (like 2 1/2 men) that could be its lead-in.  The fairly lame reality show that premiered after American Idol got 20 million viewers last week.

Watched the rest of SMALLVILLE from last night. I do enjoy the show, but another Clark and Lana breakup. This makes the third or fourth one during the show's years on the air. I hope this one is for keeps so their stories can move on.
Title: Re:MARCH INTO APRIL
Post by: Matt H. on March 31, 2006, 01:37:22 PM
CBS' thinking about THE UNIT at 9 is that it makes for a good two hour action/military block with NCIS and then THE UNIT. THE AMAZING RACE, while benefitting from the big NCIS audience lead-in, is not the most compatible show as a slot mate with NCIS. And THE UNIT is doubling the number of viewers RACE used to attract at 9, so it's really a business decision for the network.

8 p.m. is a more family friendly slot for it, but it's going to have to pull its weight now totally on its own with no lead-in.

I also read that if RACE does OK at 8 p.m., CBS next season may alternate RACE and SURVIVOR (on Thursday) so as not to wear them out with two editions each season for each of them. RACE would take half the season on Thursdays at 8 and SURVIVOR would take the other half of the season.

Finished up the afternoon viewing with last night's SUPERNATURAL. The practical jokes the brothers were playing on one another were lame and tiresome, but I always like the ghost stories and this week's didn't disappoint.

The producers of the show desaturate the color from the film before it's shown on the network, but I noticed in the previews for next week that the color hadn't been drained out of it. Will look next week to see if they're stopping this practice or if this was just an error in processing the previews this week.

Thank you for all the excellent meeting vibes.
At first I thought they weren't working. O ye of little faith. (That would be me. Ye is me. Ye is I? I am ye?)
Anyway -  what happened was.... I made myself look as lovely as possible - Bohemian - yet businesslike - a force to be reckoned with, and started out an hour early to give myself plenty of time to find the place (in Beverly Hills), park, relax. My first mistake was trusting the Mapquest Directions - which seemed pretty straightforward.
At the point that i realized that I was lost, it was still a half hour before meeting time. I knew that I was in the general neck of the woods, so no worries. WRONG. Ten minutes before meeting and I seemed to be no longer in the Hills of Beverly. So, at a red light, I shouted out my car window at a gentleman who was walking with some purpose and had no camera. Therefore, not a tourist and possibly someone who knew the area. By the time he figured out what I was asking and quickly shouted out directions, the light changed. He shouted at me to turn left. And I did. From the middle lane. Three guesses as to what the next noise I heard was. ...Anyone who said "A siren" wins the door-prize. Sooo... I pulled over on a side street. Made myslef look as lost and confused as possible. (Which wasn't hard - because I WAS lost and confused.) The officer took all my paperwork and went to his cruiser. He came back in a few minutes and - bless his heart - did not give me a ticket. He did give me very detailed directions. ...Which for some reason did NOT lead me to my destination.
By now I was officially LATE. For a first meeting. With someone on whom I was trying to make a good impression. There's a lot more boring detail - but I finally did find the place (after two calls to his assistant) and arrived a mere 20 minutes late.
He was very sweet about it all and we had a superb meeting. I won't know the outcome until Monday, but really, the meeting couldn't have gone better.
So the HHW Vibes worked, as always. And I thank you all.

Speaking of Vibes -- Excellent Back Healing Vibes to DR TCB!

I may not have the pain myself but I know all to well how it can affect you.  Mom has been in bed since the day I came home form the hosptial.

Yes, DR Vixmom we all had a wonderful time back in October.  I think that's part of what's bugging me.  Since I took the extra 2 weeks off to heal from the surgery, I know that there is no way I will be able to go on any kind of trip this year.  I so wanted to meet DR TomovOz,  his DP and go to the zoo again or maybe make it to the Left coast and meet some the gang there.

I have to build my time back up in case there is an emergency.  Thank goodness for FMLA.  At least if something happened, I wouldn't have to worry about losing my job.

So at least until next year at this time or even the fall of next year, I won't be going anywhere.   :( :'(

DRGinny, that is excellent news!

I'm back from a "gay sex in the City" comedy ADAM AND STEVE, which is quite funny and quite quite quite gross.  Parker Posey's character has a great PennyO moment and that's all I'll say about it.  There are some wonderfully funny folk in the movie - Julie Hagerty, Melinda Dillon, Paul  amongst them - and some very funny running jokes on a family with a curse.  I laughed a lot.  My friend Matthew and I had dinner and he headed off to see 70 GIRLS 70.  I will now chill out.

DR MattH, how many viewers does THE UNIT get? I guess I get your point about it being more compatible with NCIS. But TAR used to get 15 million or something before the family edition. I can't imagine THE UNIT could be anywhere near doubling that.

I love the idea about alternating thursdays at 8pm between survivor and TAR.

I don't know if you've noticed; now that he is a Broadway biggie, DR Jose does not know us anymore! Boo hoo! LOL!

May I have some more cake, please?

- Oh (A Jose reference!) does anyone know BK's secret for so much energy in him? What a busy man!
I, for one, would like to know!

THE AMAZING RACE has never scored 15 million viewers on a single episode, not even season finale episodes. 10-12 million is more like it at its height.

Here's the information from this week's VARIETY about RACE's score this week:

"At 10, "Amazing Race 9" (3.7/10 in 18-49, 9.1 million viewers overall) was down slightly week to week and continues to under-perform recent editions."

I got some reading in before I turned on the evening's shows. First up was THE OFFICE from last night which had several hilarious moments. It was Michael's birthday which no one in the office actually cared much about, but by the end he had taken them all to an ice skating rink to celebrate.

Even funnier, THE OFFICE has started doing their own wacky versions of those NBC public service announcements that play during commercials, and the two that aired last night were really funny.

CSI: NY from Wednesday night had two cases, one involving a stolen liver on its way to be transplanted. The other involved the rape and murder of a woman who stalked men through their business cards. Both interesting cases if a bit gruesome.

The last IN JUSTICE had another teary-eyed finale, and I wasn't sure if I was weeping because of the conclusion of the plot or the conclusion of the series. I'm really going to miss it.

CONVICTION! My goodness, Stephanie March having sex on her office desk with her colleague. She never did THAT on LAW & ORDER: SVU!

These multiple cases per episode, all of which were interesting in their own right, aren't given enough development to milk the dramatic juice out of each one. I wonder if the show might do better with no more than two cases per week. There were three ongoing tonight plus all the personal stories of the lawyers.

Hi all, well I survived the concert. It was an experience. First of all, my niece pointed out to me that I always think she's 16 when she's almost 18...so I'm wrong there.

Secondly they would have been more than fine without me.  I think the average age at the concert was about 12 or 13 and there were probably a couple thousand people there maybe 50 of them were men.

Listening to that many young girls scream for a couple hours made me think it was a kids version of primal scream therapy

Ms Simpson needs a new hair stylist.  Her extensions were not good and visible from quite far away.

Her music isn't my cup of tea...I think she sings about 5 notes in various combinations.  But the girls loved her.  It was very loud.

You can't imagine how many times I heard OMG he is SOOO hot. When the opening guy said he had a myspace the crowd went crazy and when we got home the girls immediately added him to their space.

I did have fun, but it was watching all the girls and hanging out with my niece and her friend that were the fun part. I could have done without the concert. But I think I've regained my hearing and have scored many aunt browine points. I am about to go to sleep to the sound of whispering girls in the next room

Hi! Just got home from viewing our own Bruce in DECEIT - oh, I was so proud!!!!! Especially the final video was whiz-bang!! It is, I hope, the beginning of his second stint onstage in great character roles.

DR Laura and her son had driven in from Phoenix to be there. It was so nice to meet them. Laura's boy is just delightful, cute, personable - a total computer geek. Works a day job and goes to school at night. Lives on caffeine. Now there's a kid after me own heart!

Anyhoo, I'm tired, so I'll head to bed and get backk to yuz tomorrow. Niteynite!

I am SUCH the candidate for a bitch-slapping as I did NOT make it up to LA from Anaheim to see "Deceit" like I had planned this eve.  I was so wrapped up in my workshops and activities at the Religious Education Congress - why I'm here (RECongress.org) that when I was done, it was way too late to drive up there and get there before curtain.  bk, you know I'll be first in line for a DVD when they are up on Kritzerland, and my sincerest apologies for not attending.  Break a leg on your closing!

I'm finally back home and must eat some chow before writing the notes.  It was great seeing PennyO and Laura and Laura's son.  Sadly, we could not go out after the show because we had about an hour's worth of pickups to shoot.   Perhaps if Laura calls in the morning we can have breakfast.  Tonight's show felt a bit weird to me, but I liked the energy of my scene with Matt - it had some strange stuff going on, but we went with it and it was fun.  Of course, I had a total comfort zone because we'd had a really good tape-through of our sequence during the day, so I knew I had everything I needed.  I'll be editing the footage in a couple of weeks.
