It looks as if my car will cost all my savings earmarked for Christmas prezzies for the extended family and them some -
new battery, new water pump, a system flush, new hose asembly.... $700
meh
DR vixmom - I know that is a lot of money, and the timing of the expense is probably not the best, but...
When was the last time you had any major work done on the car? If you break it down month-by-month, it's probably not that bad. I still remember going into "shock" whenever I had to have to some work down on my still-missed and beloved 1993 Escort Wagon. However, besides the routine oil changes and tires, I only "invested" about $3000 over the 16-year lifespan of the car. Not bad at all. -But, yes, those $700-900 repairs were always a bit ouch-y.
*And, remember, your Christmas bonus from work is bound to cover the cost of the car repairs with plenty of money left over for presents.
