when I was in my teens and twenties and my folks still had their boat we used to spend our 4th of July on Fire Island -- no cars are allowed on the Island  so the parade contained  marchers, bicycles and the  floats were little red wagons.. there was always one guy dress liked the statue of liberty being pulled in a wagon -  his  torch was a painted conch shell

Unfortunately, I really have that headache I made up last night.   Maybe I should have a bowl of fresh peaches on vanilla bean ice cream with a side of Aleve.   That ought to make it better

Just got back from BLOODY BLOODY ANDREW JACKSON.

Love it!  I decided a while back I'm not going to go home for the usual family drama this year.  I'll miss seeing my great nieces and nephews, but I want to be able to play in the parade and do some of the other fun things going on here.  Instead of worrying about it, I just said no, I'm not coming.  It was much easier and no one was upset by it
