Good Evening!

Day Two of rehearsal - well, Day Two, for me - went well.  We finished the Tap sequence, and then ended the day by choreographing the Finale/Bows!  WOW!  It was amazing how the air of fatigue and frustration changed in the room as soon as everyone formed that final line and started doing those famous steps!  -And it was also the one part of the dance that did not need to be choreographed since everyone knew it either from doing the show before, or from learning it in some class.  I actually got goosebumps!  -And a little teary-eyed.

I did some more exploring of downtown Houston during the two-hour dinner break.  I headed over to the Market Square area where I found a nice fast-food type Cuban and Mexican place.  Pretty good.  That area of town also some other places I'm gonna try to check out.  However, like most of downtown Houston, a lot of the places are only open until 3:00 in the afternoon - it's very much a 9-5 oriented area.  And I also found a couple of access points to the "tunnel system" - kind of an underground Houston - shops, restaurants, etc.  Again, however, most of them are only open during office hours - even the underground closes at 7:00p.m.  -OH! But the major find today was the Krispy Kreme about three blocks from the theatre! ;)

But the major "news" of the day was the rescheduling of Monday's schedule.  Originally, Monday was going to consist of a "Daylight Day of Rest", followed by a rehearsal from 7:00-Midnight.  However, since we are now moving into the theatre tomorrow afternoon, the whole company will now be off all day - and night - on Monday.  Which is great news for myself and the conductor since our Sunday will be VERY long - Orchestra rehearsal from 9:00am-1:00pm, then rehearsal from 1:00pm-Midnight (with a dinner break) (that actors come in at Noon).  However, any way you slice it, it will be a long day, and it will now be very nice to have a full day off after that.  Whew!

Well... I need to get some sleep now...

Goodnight.

Great news, Panni! Good job vibes ~~~~~~~

~~~~~~~~ Good wishes vibes to Danise.
My questions for BK on Ask BK Day:
1) TWO versions of Seven Brides????
2) Do you know Doris Roberts? I just watched a rerun of "Everybody Loves Raymond," and I think she is just a hoot.
A question for DR IrisBeyer: Why don't you come on in and join us???? We'd like to meet you.
I don't know about bk, but I saw her at the mall on the weekend. That makes us close personal friends.
"No child left behind" I believe refers to the fact that every child in America, whether a millionaire's kid or a one living in the slums, is supposed to have an equal shot at getting a good education.
...I'm not holding my breath. (And my understanding of what the phrase means may be off.)
DR LAURA - I am sure MRBK will talk about this is tomorrow's notes.....and I am anxious to hear about it.
7Bfor7B was filmed in CinemaScope.  But since in 1954 not ALL theatres were equipped with CinemaScope equipment, a second version was filmed with a different camera.  So once the 'Scope scene was filmed, the cast re-grouped and did it all again for another camera.
There are two versions of OKLAHOMA! - and the one now available the TODD-AO (I think) version is subtly better than the "regular" version that was first released on video and had been the one shown on TV for years.  Subtle - but different!
DRPANNI - you simply must knock on the door of Miss Universe 195? and see if she still wears her banner and crown around the house!
I worked with Doris Roberts briefly when I guest-starred in an episode of Angie (one of the funniest things I ever did).  Very nice person.
Jrand explained the Seven Brides thing, and I will talk about it in the notes.
