As for favorite actresses of the 1940s, Ida Lupino is at the top of my list. Great actress, great director and good singer. She's got the goods.

So, Carrie Fisher's autopsy points to factors such as sleep apnea as a cause of death. I know that DRs Singdaw and Mike Barnum both share this condition with me. If there's anyone else among us who has sleep apnea and isn't taking care of it, please learn from this lesson. It's not to be trifled with. It is a matter of life and death.

Five years ago, I was in Italy with a group of friends on a trip that was outstanding. We rented a villa in the middle of nowhere and enjoyed the serenity as well as nearby Orvietto.

Tonight, we got together for an Italian dinner that was superb. We had antipasti, homemade pasta with a sauteed spread of mushrooms, Tuscan steaks and panna cotta (of sorts). I made the desserts and packed them on ice, but some of them melted anyway, turning into a kind of vanilla soup. But the whiskey-marinated cherries were ridiculously good.

And we had some spectacular wines to go with the meal.

I haven't eaten like that in ages. Hate to see what my blood sugar will be in the morning.

It's good to know I'll be falling asleep in air conditioning.

What is your favorite Ida Lupino movie?

When I read this question, my mind said CHASE A CROOKED SHADOW.  Don't ask me where that came from.  Of course, I looked it up and it is Anne Baxter, not Ida Lupino; but how in the heck did my mind come up with that title?

Back from a sort of run-through.  Actors still struggling mightily with lines - hopefully by Tuesday this will not be an issue anymore.  But interesting stuff.

Listening to, of all people, Beethoven, the complete symphonies.  Walter Weller, conducting.  I just don't go for this stuff but I decided in order to really not go for it I should probably actually listen to more than a few snippets, which is all I've done over the years.  It's a musical language that doesn't "get" to me but so far I'm at least enjoying these performances and appreciating the craft.  I'm on number three currently.

Listening to Pearl and Cab in HELLO, DOLLY!  I love this recording, probably because I saw this cast on Broadway.

And now, I must be off.  I have to print some programs and deliver them to The Midnight Sun for the official opening night of 5 Lesbians Eating a Quiche!  There were 13 people at the preview last night, so hopefully, that's an indicator of good audiences to come!

Be back later!

Well, earlier tonight when I went to pick up the money till after the show, I was told that there were probably only three seats left!  The Midnight Sun only seats 37 or so, but it's never easy to sell out.

What might've helped may be because tomorrow is the Pride march here in Olympia.  The cast of the show is going to march in the parade with signs advertising the show, so hopefully that'll drum up interest...and bring a greater awareness of our theater group
