Crazy rehearsal - one singer had an audition at three in Long Beach. Well, naturally they were an hour and fifteen minutes behind and she called me at five-thirty and was stuck on the 405 freeway down by National. At that point, the signs said thirty-five minutes. So, everyone else got here and we waited. And waited. And waited. Meanwhile, Vilanch came and he and Jason at least got to run their number a few times - neither one of them seemed to know the second complete time through the song so we're just doing the first time through, then patter, then right to the ending. We finally started the stumble-through without the singer, as she was already over an hour late. She arrived in time for her second song. Meanwhile, the show order works really well, but I felt two of Juliana's songs were way too long - couldn't tell when she was just running them at her solo rehearsals, but boy was it instantly apparent when we ran the show - so I asked her to stay after and I quickly made a few tempo changes, small cuts, and then two large lifts in each song - she sang through them and they were MUCH better.
