Just back from Orchestra Hall. On the docket tonight was Ann Hampton Callaway's
Streisand program. She brought her pianist and drummer, but she also performed with the entire Minnesota Orchestra. It was a great show.
Great because of her performance, of course, but also because the show also was a tribute to Jule Styne, the Bergmans, and Marvin Hamlisch. And she did her standard party trick, writing a song on the spot with phrases and suggestions from the audience. It turned out to be a love song about Ole and Sven (two male names that had been shouted out). She didn't understand that at first, but she soon got it.
