With a little more effort, you can get to 12,000 by week's end.

We'll all cheer you on.

I've finished the tuna pasta salad.  That is all I've eaten today, plus two English muffin things (the equivalent of yesterday's cupcake).  So, I definitely lost weight yesterday, and I'm hoping I'll definitely lose weight today.

Good Evening!

I just back into Richmond about half an hour ago.  The drive back down 95 was fine, but I did have to play dodge-the-potholes from time to time.  Most unseemly.

My visit to my brother and his family was quite wonderful!  They had plenty to snack on including some sinfully rich brownie "loaf" my sister-in-law made.  I had a slice or two.. or three.. and some ice cream.. and some Girl Scout Cookies...  and...

;)

However, the best part of the evening was going up to my niece, Alyssa, giving her a big hug, and NOT having her scream and run away from me.  :D  She was in quite a playful mood tonight.  She's apparently discovered how to whisper - although I don't think she's grasped the concept completely.  Yes, she was whispering things to me, but I'm still not sure what she was telling me and if they were actual words.  She was fascinated with the light-up ring I brought for her, and she even thanked me for it.   And kissed me too!

John Michael was his usual rambunctious self, and he filled me in on all the new things he learned at school.  We did have a small disagreement when I wanted to watch "American Idol", and he wanted to keeping watching Toon Disney, but his father stepped in.  It was his bedtime anyway, so...  He was more upset about having to go to bed than having to stop watching TV.

Before he went up to bed, he gave me a hug and asked if I could send him something from New York City.  Of course, he didn't really need to ask since I always bring him something back from New York.

"Goodnight, Uncle Jojo."

I didn't think about the 1936 SHOW BOAT either, and it's grand. I have it on two different laserdiscs (Criterion and MGM/Turner), so it doesn't occur to me that I don't have it.

I haven't read anything about an imminent release for it, however.

I got to see my parents for a bit too.  They're both doing fine, and my father truly seems back to normal.  I made him a little happier tonight by taking back a couple of boxes of magazines I've had sitting in the basement for at least five years at this point.  The recycling program in Northern Virginia does not accept magazines which is part of why I've left them in boxes for a while.... Hmm...  So, I brought them back with me, and in a few I'll get them bundled up and put them out on the curb with the other magazines I bundled over the weekend.

-Just how many back issues of Men's Health do I really need?  If at all?!?!?!

;)

However, I did notice I have a copy of the first issue of Men's Health as well as the first issue of This Old House magazine, and I'll probably keep those just in case.

Any takers?

;D

For any of you who are Christopher Meloni fans, tonight he gives his best ever performance on LAW & ORDER: SPECIAL VICTIMS UNIT. Much of the show is a face-off between Chris and Matthew Modine, and they are electric. The ending is upsettingly harrowing to say the least.

I'm sure this will be Emmy submission material for both actors.

I was previewing the new DVD of Bambi and I cam across a scene that had me thinking that the same Christian right that said the Sponge Bob Squarepants was offensive could find Bambi offensive. There is a scene where Bambi and Faline sleep together without the benifit of being married. Shocking! Absolutely shocking!!

Boy, are you right about that! Not an idol in THAT bunch at all. Only the Las Vegas showgirl had anything like star quality tonight. Really an off night for the women.

And, I must be on another wavelength or inhabiting another diminsion, but the three judges raved about Mikalah who gave the WORST performance of the night; well, maybe second worst along with Jenay (who was also awful last week). But there was NOTHING praiseworthy in Mikalah's vocals tonight, and they all thought she was terrific. Made me want to have my hearing checked.

I walked up to the mailbox a block or two up from my house a minute ago, and it's FREEZING outside. Just a few nigths ago, I stepped out on my porch in a long sleeved shirt, and felt clammy. Now, a person would freeze quickly without a coat on in this weather. Simply amazing how quickly it can change.
