No, but I saw the John Osborne LUTHER when it was part of AMERICAN FILM THEATRE (and now own it) with Stacy Keach and it is a wonderful play.

DR vixmom - How could I forget Luther?  We saw it in the theatre when it was released, because right at the same time DH Richard was portraying Luther in a church musical for which I was stage director (I also played Catherine Winkworth).  Our son Rob liked the movie so much, he asked for the DVD for Christmas.  And I'm a great fan of Alfred Molina...

I am so sorry to hear about Bruno, S. Woody White and der Brucer. Unfortunately, that's part of fostering.

Peggy and the other pups and all your resident dogs are all very beautiful and/or handsome.

The enthusiastic preacher is back. The feminist demonstration and the nude art show have left, replaced by a martial arts demonstration. There's a real show going on outside.

Okay, you smart hainsies/kimlets, here is my question of the day:

I need to know a State that is near the Gulf of Mexico part of Texas - something that would be an hour or two plane ride away, preferably an hour.

Gorman Bechard??  (off-topic, here)  One of the first things that I ever got from eBay was a set of 36 slides of The Manhattan Transfer in performance at some club in 1975, taken from the audience.  I bought them from the photographer who was Gorman Bechard!  How can you forget a name like that?  Small world!  (you may now return to the Topic of the Day:  religious movies.)

I am also very sorry to hear abut Bruno.

I do have to thank both DRS SWW andDerBrucer  for the stories about the dogs. Being up at school, I have no pets and hearing about these little fellas has cheered me up. One of the first things I am going to do when I get home tonight for my appointment is go play with my dog.

Gorman Bechard also wrote and directed the film "Psychos in Love" which I discovered when someone was playing it as background at a Halloween party... I never did see the whole thing

and he has written a book called  "Ninth Square" that I quite enjoyed as well

Oh yeah, and I dated him briefly in 1978  or so... he had a music magazine back then called  "Imagine" .  he took me to some wonderful concerts in NYC.. then we drifted apart.... and last year I ran across  'The Second Greatest Story Ever Told" and of course seeing the author's name  HAD to pick it up  and found I quite  enjoyed it...

I wonder what he's doing now?

Where in Texas  specifically, the Gulf coast is kinda long, but that link I gave you should help there as well...

Yeah, Brownsville and Port Arthur, both on the Texas Gulf Coast, are almost 500 miles apart.

And there was also "David and Bathsheba".

And Gina Lollobrigida in SOLOMON AND SHEBA and THE SIGN OF THE CROSS with Claudette Colbert.  Does THE CRUSADES with Loretta Young count?

I don't see why not.

How's about "Going My Way" and "The Bells of St. Mary's" and "Joan of Arc"?

"St. Joan"?

Bruce, the way you worded your question, I actually did not know that you meant an hour or two from the Gulf Of Mexico. I thought you meant a city near there but a 2 hour plane ride from L.A.

Here are my options:

Santa Fe, New Mexico.
El Paso, Texas.
Nashville, TN.
Atlanta, Georgia.
Memphis, TN.
Montgomery, Alabama.

Oh, SAD CYPRESS is one of the moodier Christie mysteries, but the BBC did their usual good job. I hadn't read the book in decades and didn't really remember what it was about, but once presented with the murder in this film version, I had NO trouble solving it. But I can't take credit since I HAD read the novel a long time ago. I think maybe I've read and seen so much Agatha Christie that I can spot most of her puzzles and their solutions now.

I guess I will be checking out LAW & ORDER: TRIAL BY JURY tonight. Jerry Orbach is in tonight's premiere, so that will make it worth seeing for me. And Bebe Neuwirth is always worth watching, too.

Lunch was a total joy, today.

There were six of us, so we got some extra dim sum dishes.

Yummmmm-a-liciousity!

Speaking of "dishes," anybody remember when you would get dishes when you bought gas?

I have books that showed theater marquees advertising that someone would "win" a set of dishes at various showings of some film.

And then there were S&H Green Stamps...which I pasted into books for my mother during my formative years.

The building still stands in Greenville SC where you would take your green stamp books and exchange them for merchandise.

I'm waxing nostalgic lately...for some reason.

The Schwab's story put me in mind of "fings ain't wot they used to be" in a lot of sad ways.
