What is it with Jesse Jackson these days? First, Michael Jackson; now Terry Shiavo. I know the Rev has been somewhat marginalized in the last few years, but is he that desperate for attention these days?

I think it is a lovely "want" ballad. Not as lovely as the R/H selection we heard about in chat last night. That song is one of those that takes emotion to ANOTHER level!

Interesting article at canoe.ca. Apparently Rupert may be the next cross-over to The Amazing Race.

Also interesting, last week TAR was the most popular show in Canada (3.43 M), followed by Idol #2 and 3, Survivor #4 and CSI #5. Medium #6.

Also good news it says that Tru Calling will be starting season 2 March 31st.

In the Jewish tradition a simple coffin is the best. Of course all styles are provided. Fortunately my sister and I agreed on the simplest one at the funeral home. I’m sure your choice gave you comfort.

A sense of humor at these times is needed. I have known people who add personal items in the coffin so I thought it would be nice to send my father off with a box of See’s candy which he ate almost every day of his life. My sister said she didn’t really want a box in there as it would rot. I just about bit my tongue and nodded solemnly.

Re: DeLay and Schiavo: The ABC News last night revealed that DeLay removed his comatose father from life support 10 or 20 years ago. Funny how that seems not to have been widely reported.

Re: William Bolcom. Well, here's my William Bolcom story for the day--Portland had a little mini-Bolcom fest a few years ago and suddenly everyone discovered Mr. Bolcom's original manuscripts are near impossible to decipher. So guess who was hired to "clarify" things? Oy. You would not have believe them--first of all they were not on standard manuscript paper, but rather this incredibly wide paper with maybe 7 or 8 staves to a page. They thankfully provided me with CDs of the scores I was deciphering so I was able to figure out what the scribbles meant.

I think there's one more Re I meant to post about, but it escapes me at the moment.

"The Way You Look Tonight" - I think that this is one of the greatest songs ever written. I don't know why, I just do.
I love the 3-CD complete Show Boat, but especially "Can't Help Lovin' Dat Man," the extended up-tempo version and scene...not so much as a ballad, though.

DRMBARNUM - I saw Dorothy Neumann in THE GREATEST STORY EVER TOLD. I forgot she was in it! She has a couple of lines in the crucifixion scene.

She was wearing a hood, but I bet she had her hair in pigtails!

LOL DRJANE - well that would be who would have signed it! I know that Jean (who wrote the book under Frances' name) often said she would hear her typewriter keys during the night. I told her to put a piece of paper in the typewriter, and she declined.

I am sure she didn't want to know what Frances was thinking!
