NO NODES IS GOOD NODES

Well, you've read the notes, you've read the nodes, you know all there is to nodes, and now it is time for you to post until the cows come home, with or without their nodes.

As spoken by the great Thomas Mitchell in Buffalo Bill:

"Join us in a postprandial POTATION."

It doesn't get better than that.

I quite like THE BRAVADOS.  As I remember, it also has a nice score.  I keep meaning to see WARLOCK and always miss it when it plays the Westerns channel.  The relationship between Quinn and Fonda is supposed to hint of latent homosexuality.

THE BRAVADOS is one of those movies I saw many years ago at the drive-in and loved.  I thought it was pretty scary - and Gregory Peck was determined that those men would not escape justice.  I remember it (and the music) being very tense - and I think I would like to see it again.  Of the others - I have recently seen WARLOCK but don't remember much about it, and I have never seen BUFFALO BILL...a movie that DR TCB should be required to see immediately!

DR CP - you hit the nail on the head.  Colonel Tom Parker nixed Elvis' participation in THE RAINMAKER as not sufficiently "starring" enough - so since he was under contract to producer Hal Wallis for a film (and also bound to Fox and MGM for one film) - Elvis, Inc passed.  I agree that he would have been a good Jimmy and in GREAT company with that cast.  I think he did do a screen test, I seem to remember a photo on some Biography or other....but it was LOVE ME TENDER, LOVING YOU, and JAILHOUSE ROCK for Elvis.

Morning all.  Sorry about last night, I was very sick to my tummy when I came from work last night and barely fed the dogs and got supper done before I went to lay down.

If the weatherman is right, we're going to have bad storms by the time I get home tonight so I don't know if I will be able to use the computer or not.

Just want to wish everyone else a wonderful day!

Good morning, all!  The SHOWBOAT day at Rodgers & Hammerstein was fun, but the work is more detailed than I anticipated, so there were be one to two more days on the project.  Today I'm back to BABES IN TOYLAND and whatever else is sitting on my desk in the office.

Birthday wishes to our own DR Jennifer!

I'm still somewhat sickly. I am not sick enough to stay home (believe me, if I was sicke enough I would stay home) but I'm not feeling completely up to snuff.

I'm checking in so that I don't get faced with hundreds (or 10s) of posts.

Later,

Happy Birthday to DR Jennifer.

I concur with DR Ben's assessment of your new avatar, DR Danise.  They just keep getting ginchier and ginchier!  Lovely.....

Well, I have been here at work (though not in my office) since 4:30 AM.  We were doing a live remote for the final dance event of the year, an (in-house) African Dance and Drum Ensemble called Sankofa.  So it's been a long day (a quasi How to Succeed...reference) already.  But the segments went off without a hitch, and you have to give kudos to those students....I don't think waking up at 4AM affected them a bit!

I, on the other hand, had two -- count 'em -- two alarm clocks set for 3 AM to be here by 4:30.  Just in case.  Dear partner John (who has the same middle name as your very cute nephew, DR Jose!) slept in the guest room.  Sure!  He got a full night of beauty sleep!

I should be pretty fried by noon, I am thinking.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY TO JENNIFER!!!!

I am still faced with hundreds of posts to read.  I could use a day off just to catch up here at HHW.

I think I'd like French Toast and a side of  bacon for breakfast. Yeah, I'll order that.  Of course, what I'll get, however, is toast or cereal.  Now let's see, which of the two am I less sick of?

I recently discovered a new favorite mexican dish.  It a sort of chicken chilli, but I can't remember the exact name.  It's probably Chicken Chilli.

Good Morning!

No, your eyes do not deceive you!  I am actually up and posting before Noon!  In fact, I woke up at 8:30, listened to a bit of NPR, and I've already had my bowl of cereal (with frozen blueberries and soy milk).  I'll finish out The Today Show, and then start sorting through more stuff.

I think that today and part of tomorrow shall consist of more picking and choosing rather than packing and moving.  This way once I've picked and choose, I will, hopefully, have less to pack and move.  Sounds like a plan to me.  I also need to make a few calls to see where I can donate/bring a couple of items.

...And something tells me I shall be taking a nap this afternoon...

Oh... And I stepped out for a sec just to see what it was like, and it's glorious!  Unfortunately, I can tell the pollen is back in force, however, some more rain is due tonight and tomorrow to wash it all away (again).

As for Mexican Food...

Almost anything wrapped in a tortilla or masa.

It was quite the revelation a couple of years ago when I discovered the difference between real Mexican food and Tex-Mex food.  The complexity of spicing in real Mexican food is, well, complex.  And realizing that there are many other chiles out there besides jalapeños.  That being said...

I love a good tamale.  Whether it be filled with chicken, beef, pork, lengua, chorizo, mushrooms, cheese.... or even dulce with pineapple.  I still have fond memories of the abuelas selling their tamales from makeshift carts at the top of the Vermont/Sunset and MacArthur Park Metro stations in LA last summer.  Each one was different, since they cooked the ones they grew up with, the one from their particular town or village.

Sopes, tostadas, tacos, flautas, etc...

Menudo, posole.... true comfort foods.

And champurrado the Mexican hot chocolate made with corn milk.

Sorru Tthat I have been E & T the days have been very full ...the Vixter is in "hell week" of rehearsals now, tomoorw night is the final dress rehearsal but they let the local senior citizens come for free so there will be an audience, guess we can consider this the preview! this Friday the 29th (which is also the Vixters' 12th birthday) is the official opening night.

Meanwhile becaus eof Passover the Vixter had no school Friday or yesterday so I took the days off to run her around so she could video the local recycling plant, and the toen dump and the roadsides where people have disposed of their garbage....

She is also simultaneouly working on a Medieval Stained Glass project so I have been bringing her to the library and various local bookstores to get research materials , and all the available computer time has been used for googling stain glass making in the medieval period.......

She must also make a stained glass project (well actually stained plastic as they are not supposed to bring glass into school) so we were running to various craft stores to get the needed materials and to the Home Depot to get the plexiglass since all the local craft stores were  out of that since every 6th grader (all 250 of them) have the same project and we were late out of the gate shopping for the materials.

She has a rehearsal alst night, has one tonioght, the preview show on Wednesday, Thursday, (the only day off from the play) she has a school concert at night, then Friday and Saturday night she has the shows and Saturday afternoon we have a first communion party   to go to!!  AAUUGH!!!

So anyway... that's why I haven't been around since Thursday and I msut catch up!

I like to make chicken quesadillas.  I get the whole wheat  tortillas and use  a mixture of shredded  Extra sharp Cheddar, Montery Jack and sometimes a little mozzerella,  I saute some sweet onions, sweet  red, yellow and green peppers, and sliced mushrooms together, with sliced chicken breast, and then  I throw the mixture  between the tortillas, sprinkle some of the cheese mixture on it and put the top tortilla on then brown it on both sides in a fryingpan.  I serve it with medium salsa and sour cream and  (sometimes ) guacamole.   Mr. Vixmom gets chopped tomatoes on his .. I don't like the raw tomatoes so I abstain.....

see Jose, I do cook sometimes
