The Chicago City Limits show was delightful. I thought of Swishy Sarah (her sister, actually) as we improvised a musical about a soccer-playing Seventh Grader. (She sang "Oh, soccer ball - you're black and white and black and white and black and white all over.")
It's really a shame that this troupe (which has their own theatre) is closing after roughly a quarter century. In playing for them, there's a mirror image for me. My first job was as the first musical director of Off the Wall on Fairfax Avenue, which went on to run for about 20 years. And now I catch the tail end of CCL. I feel like Dave Righetti, going from being a starter to a closer.
