HAZARDOUS WASTE
« on: December 07, 2003, 12:14:16 AM »

Well, you know what a special day it is if you've read the notes, so let's party until the cows come home and then let's chat until the cows come home, and let's post until the cows come home, too.

I knew SOMEONE would get in a last post and upset the balance.  I am now setting the balance right, because to be unbalanced is unseemly.

I also remember a store near Bookstar that sold costumes from the studios. But Ibelieve it is gone now. I tried to post this on the previous board but I was too late. This was a carry over from where Bruce said he saw the film Mr. Quilp at the movie theater on Ventura in Studio City that is now Bookstar. I never knew it as a movie theater, but I thought that it might have been one. It Looks like one.

I am not usually up this late but I fell asleep while watching Where Eagles Dare. A favorite of mine and woke up with the last twenty minutes to go. Even though I have seen it many many times it is is an exciting conclusion. Dear Clint Eastwood must have killed more people in this film that all his other films put together. I am not usually the last poster on the previous day or am I the first. So I am not trying to prove a point. But it is a free for alll dat afterall. TOM FROM OZ posted the poster from SORDUD LIVE> A film I really enjoyed seeing. I cannot reccommed it highly enough.

I'm soooo tired, but I'm up and I'm not ready to go to bed yet, so here I am, here I'll stay, with our late night Hainsies/Kimlets.  Anyone for pancakes?

Trying to remember isn't there an all night diner on Ventura?

How wonderfully exciting!  I always knew that December was a time for celebration, but now that I have joined HHW I truly know the meaning of celebration.  Not only do we have those religious holidays (Christmas, Hanukah) and cultural holidays (Kwanza), but we also have all these wonderful birthday celebrations for various and sundried Kimlets.

HAPPY BIRTHDAY, JANE![/size]

(And BK, who is going to be responsible for cutting up all these ham chunks?)

The Chicago City Limits show was delightful.  I thought of Swishy Sarah (her sister, actually) as we improvised a musical about a soccer-playing Seventh Grader.  (She sang "Oh, soccer ball - you're black and white and black and white and black and white all over.")

It's really a shame that this troupe (which has their own theatre) is closing after roughly a quarter century.  In playing for them, there's a mirror image for me.  My first job was as the first musical director of Off the Wall on Fairfax Avenue, which went on to run for about 20 years.  And now I catch the tail end of CCL.  I feel like Dave Righetti, going from being a starter to a closer.

Hey all. Yep we're in widescreen. Must be that beautiful birthday pic. I wonder if we'd be okay if MS removed the little side picture.

Happy Birthday DR JANE:

BTW, I cannot type properly today.I do not want to use my left index finger.

I was using a gluegun last night while hildy was "feathering" and I touched something I glued and got hot glue on my finger.

I could have sworn such things had happened before. But I was in so much pain I could not bear it. I took an ice cube and the pain went away. But the moment I took my finger off the ice cube I was in immense pain. I ended up just sitting with my finger in a mug of water and ice.

But my 11pm I was tired. And still in much pain. So I took an ice pack with me and placed it on towels. The pain didn't stop till 4am. So I am sooo tired. And I'm trying not to use that finger. So typing is hard.

For Swishy: Just read your account of your audition.

THAT SOUNDS TERRIBLE!!

I cannot believe that they treated you like that.  Sorry. But don't let it get to you. You did your best. And at least no matter what you have this audition experience.

For DR Andrea: Don't bother checking the weather channel. According to them we will only get a trace of snow in the next 24 hours.  Wow, tell that to all that snow that is coming down now :)

Thanks Jen..

Well ladies and gentlemen, I am off to school to go and study for my upcoming exams. Unfortunately, i've been behind in my readings so for the last few days I've been catching up on the readings. Now I can properly study. And hate it. I hate the library during exam time. The library that I wanted to go to (Birks reading room) is closed, so I must go and study with the mostly likely unwashed and over perfumed masses in Club Redpath. (known as club redpath cause the girls actually wear clothing that would be better suited to clubing to study-- oy!)

Bonne Fête DR Jane

Happy Birthday, DR Jane! Hope you have many more (and stop counting them as I have been forced to do!)

I will not be at chat tonight. HBO is premiering ANGELS IN AMERICA: MILLENIUM APPROACHES tonight at 8 p.m. EST, and there is no way on earth I'll miss it. According to my local guide, it's also being broadcast in high definition which will make watching it an added pleasure. I can't tell you how much I'm looking forward to seeing this much publicized work. I saw both parts of the stage version, and I'm really excited about seeing a $60 millionfilm translation handled by real pros and written for the screen by the original author.

OK, DR Ron threw down the gauntlet last night in expressing his extreme recommendation for STRICTLY BALLROOM, and one other person chimed in with support. He has assured me that it is not in the frenzied, headache-inducing style of the same director's MOULIN ROUGE, so I would love to hear some other opinions about this film. I will eventually rent it to be "in the know" about this director's films, but do others share this same overwhelming enthusiasm for the movie as DR Ron does?

Good morning all!

A one and a two and a three and a four:

"Happy Birthday to YOUUUUUU!
Happy Birthday to YOUUUUUUU!
Happy Birthday DEAR READER JAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAAANNNNE!
Happy Birthday to YOUUUUUUU!"

"And many morrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrre"
:)

DR Andrea:  Birks is closed during exams?  How strange... Although I will admit that as the Religious Studies library you will have a far less chance of spending your afternoon watching a girl with low-rise jeans and a backless sweater. :)

DR Michael Shayne:  Is it just me, or is that cheese plate in the pic you showed absolutely too over-the-top "cheesy"?

I'm off to study for my Women and the Christian Tradition exam tomorrow afternoon.  Cheers!

I will add my support for STRICTLY BALLROOM.  It is one of the funniest films ever made and with our the usual Baz Lhurman excesses.
