I feel like I am missing out!

But tonight I shall watch my very first Tony Awards....as long as my Bollywood movie ends in time.

They did "Find Your Grail" It would have been more fun to have "Always Look on the Bright Side of Life" but maybe that's just me......

Great number from La Cage.

DRELMORE - you work in the theatre and know these people, I only know what I see.  If I say anything that is mean, I don't malign them personally.

I just don't think "she didn't embarrass herself" is worthy of acceptance at this level.

You're being unnecessarily unkind to her; I wish her only the best.  Her singing was not unpleasant and she moved well, although I know Charlotte d'Amboise dances much better.  Charlotte's a wonderful performer, but she's not a name the Weislers thought they could sell.  Bad Weisler casting?  Well, Rosie O'Donnell as Rizzo, for one.  Bernadette Peters as Annie Oakley, for another.  Christina Applegate strikes me as being better than either of these two stars.

But it's such a parody of those power ballads they bellow on "American Yokel,"  where some moron will take it seriously!  Lots of sound and fury from a lot of morons.  It gives Tim Curry a moment along with Ms Ramirez, and it's so silly.

I think we've just hit the Tony's embarassing Hollywood moment.

You choose to be an Applegate Apologist, that's okay by me. I don't wish the lady ill. I just didn't happen to find her of high caliber. The fact that others have been miscast in other shows doesn't make her any better.

This is one of my favorite numbers from the recording, but I'm disappointed that the Lady of the Lake doesn't don a pair of the Rent-like mikes at the end of the number as I had envisioned.

Don't get me wrong I think it's very funny. I loved Spamalot and I'm not even a Monty Python fan, but I was singing Bright Side of Life for days or even weeks after I saw it...one day I was just walking down the hall at work and just started singing it and doing a little dance....gave the staff a good laugh. I just wanted to see them do it again.

Well... It looked that like Aretha Franklin has lost some weight... And she wasn't in one those truly horrendous dresses... And the hair wasn't too bad tonight... And... and...

-That number made me glad I'm NOT taping the show...

-And I really don't want to "spoil" for anyone else right now.  truly something that has to be seen - and heard - to be, um... er... appreciated.

DRELMORE - you work in the theatre and know these people, I only know what I see.  If I say anything that is mean, I don't malign them personally.
I've seen actresses, like Cher, bomb out onstage in COME BACK TO THE FIVE AND DIME, JIMMY DEAN because their film career is made of cutting and pasting moments on celluloid, DRJRand54. I applaud her decision to try the stage, but I thought she stank.  I love her in films.

I have no urge to work in films except to possibly orchestra a film score, and I have no urge to work and live in Los Angeles.  I've always been a Broadway baby.   I love knocking the Oscars because I find the producers' mentality so horrifyingly tacky.  I believe, perhaps wrongly, that my Broadway colleagues have better taste, but it's why I moved east and not west from Ohio.
Yes, I have a lot of friends involved with PIAZZA, DIRTY ROTTEN SCOUNDRELS. LA CAGE AUX FOLLES. and more.  I wish all my friends in the theatre (and film) well, and I don't understand a lot of the cattiness, although I can certainly be catty:  what is that dreadful accent Ms Peters is doing?  Channeling Madonna?

I see a shiny vest on the director winner....must have had it for many years.

I know...

Well, Cherry Jones had a parting of the ways with her previous partner...  But it look like she's happy with her new love.

Musical Revival! Good choice.

So, how do we feel about the hanging tie vs. the bow tie with a tuxedo?

I didn't think that what Applegate  did tonight was awful, but I couldn't help but think what a real dancer could have done in that number.

I saw the last revival with Debbie Allen and michael Rupert and my problem is the show:  the leading lady is a really dumb whore and a loser.  I find the same problem with the Fellini film. She's an idiot!

Buntrock and Dilly - met in Martin Guerre.  Why do these actors marry after meeting in shows.  I never understand it, really.

Six minutes to West Coast Tony Awards.
