Yes, I have been errant and truant.
I have not been errant and falsant, however.
Der Brucer and I were ladsitting yesterday, shuttling the lads to and from their respective summer camps. Der B is back on duty all week, but since I am working today and tomorrow I spent this early morning getting him out of the door, and will be returning to sleep in in just a few minutes. I'll be rejoining him on ladsitting duty on Thursday.
But before I return to my comfortable bed, I've got to tell you all about the appetizer I had last night.
We were part of a group of five that met at the
Blue Moon, one of the best restaurants in Rehoboth Beach. Most of the group had a wonderful tomato bisque to start their meals, but I chose a chilled soup shooters quartet that had everyone agog and wondering how they could have missed it on the menu. (It's not on the menu listed on-line, which is out of date.) It was presented as four wine glasses on a rectangular white plate, each glass filled with a couple of inches of cool and colorful liquid. From right to left they contained a soup of yellow watermelon, a soup of cantaloupe, a soup of cucumber, and a soup of raspberry, each bolstered with spices and herbs. Not only was it visually spectacular, but they were all delicious and played off of each other wonderfully. It was exactly what an appetizer should be, a tantalizing start to a meal that leaves you anticipating what will follow. (The green tea smoked duck breast filled the second part of the bill quite nicely, too!)
Hopefully, all of you will read this just before you go to lunch, so your appetites will be properly whetted!
