Is Jacques Brel alive and well?

That reminds me of a skit on some Steve Allen show from the 80s where they did a mock muscial review called "Seymour Glick is Alive But Sick".

John Reardon may appear on some of the Mr. Rogers LPs.

I agree with DR Elmore. John Reardon was the greatest ever show singer. When I hear those golden tones on "Lucky to Be Me" on the studio cast album of ON THE TOWN, it takes me to another world.

Well, I have found the car, and it is mine. Below is a picture in front of my garage. It is now inside the garage safe from birds flying overhead.

I noticed that John Reardon was a high school buddy of Mr. Rogers and made appearances on his show.

With the car purcahse behind me, I think I am now able to enjoy the rest of the summer (complete with the NYC trip in August). No pressing matters before me except watching that bookcase full of DVDs that I haven't had time to get to.

I'm a most happy fella today. (A Frank Loesser reference).

DR MattH - These are some of my favorite cookies, both to make and to eat.  The tradition in our household is that I make the cookies and then when holiday houseguests arrive, we have an icing/decorating party.  Oh, I like your new car - what is it?

I also like a family favorite recipe for Oatmeal Crispies.

Store-bought, I like the new Golden Oreos, Fig Newtons (stale), and White Chocolate Coated Oreos that have been refrigerated.

There is an Ohio success-story, Cheryl & Co. - good cookies in nice stores to visit:  www.cherylandco.com.

Oh, DR MattH answered my question while I was asking it!

I've had today off and spent it doing errands in preparation for my trip to Chicago tomorrow through Tuesday.  My friend Becky and I (along with about 25,000 other people) are attending the American Library Association annual conference.  Looking forward to hearing many authors speak, including Erik Larson who wrote The Devil in the White City.  Our keynote speaker Saturday is Barack Obama.  Becky and I hope to see Wicked or The Lion King - or both if we get real lucky!

Jane, of course I would be sad.  But, that is an extreme case.   I'm talking about airplanes and why it hasn't once, in my over three decades of flying, ever been a problem, let alone been mentioned?

The news from my dentist was grim.  I have been experiencing, since Sunday, an increasing sensitivity in one of my crowned teeth.

Today, my dentist x-rayed, and told me the tooth under the crown has split.  The entire bite of my mouth is out of whack and the pain is excruciating if I forget and bite down.

I'm on amoxicillin and vicodin until my appointment with an endodontist at 4 p.m.

I HATE pain...give me NO pain, that's all I ask.

Well, since this is a family site, I will spare this site the details.  In the meantime, check your e-mail.

Now I'M dying of curiousity.

Ah... Pepperidge Farms!

Chesapeakes are good, but I've always been a Sausalito fan.

However, notice how the prices for the package of those cookies has sort of stayed the same, but the cookies have gotten smaller. A lot smaller.  I used to be able to only eat one or two at a time.  Nowadays, I can eat a whole package and still not be sated!

;)

*Oh, and my favorite Pepperidge Farm cookies are their Melbournes - which can only be found in one of their assortments (at least in my neck of the woods).  It's an almond shortbread.  Sooo good.  They remind me of the Greek finikia... or is that the koularakia.... in any case... They're almond cookies dusted with powdered sugar.

YUM!

Floors cleaned.

Clothes washed, dried and folded.

Dishes washed, dried and put away.

Bed linends washed, dried and put back on the bed.

Hmmm... Maybe being in a pensive mood is a good thing?

In other news...

Maybe it was the Full Moon... Or maybe I missed the Congressional declaration... Or...

Each day this week, I've heard from one or two people who have "irritated" in the past for various reasons.  People whom I had basically written off and had not heard from in a while.  Well, a bunch of them all managed to call me this week as if nothing "irritating" had ever happened.  And then they wonder why I "seem ambivalent" while talking with them... Well... DUH!!!!!!

OK... Vent and Rant over...

Just had to get that off my chest...

Whew!

Much better.

:)

I've decided to head down to Richmond for the night.  I need to dig out some stuff from my storage unit as well as pick up about two weeks of accumulated mail.  I may just stay the night, or I may stay two.  We shall see...

In any case... I need to get ready.

Laters...

I had to go to the airport this morning at 4am.  And I had no idea how light it is!  Not totally dark but not totally light.

The craziest thing was that there were people riding their bikes. I saw at least 3 people.  Who on earth rides their bike at 4am???  It was sort of cool out though. Pretty quiet. Although there were other cars.

Masters have been delivered to the pressing plant.  I will have CDs in hand by 7/15 at the LATEST, so anyone who preorders on the site will definitely have them before street date.
