RE: Tom Cruise on "The Today Show"... and "The Late Show with David Letterman"... and "Access Hollywood"... and...

I swear everyone must have been provided with the same script.  Almost all the interviews have opened up with a tongue-in-cheek remark from the interviewer: "Hey, haven't seen much of you lately in the news."  ;)

:-\

And each time, Mr. Cruise's response is the same semi-modest, semi-self-deprecating reaction.

And then on "The Today Show"... You can tell the producers were telling all the on-air talent to keep talking about whenever there were a few spare moments.   And they kept replaying various clips throughout the show this morning. "Ooohhh.. Ah.."... UGH!

However, it was refreshing to hear Al Roker say that he thought Tom Cruise was being rude to Matt Lauer.  I have to agree.  Just answer the question, Tom!  Don't judge him - and everyone else - just because he has not totally investigated the history of psychiatry, the medical "implications" of ritalin, the "quackery" that is modern-day psychology, etc., etc., etc...

Of course, "The Today Show" is milking the situation for all it's worth.  Part 1 and 2 aired today - a total of about 15 minutes, if that; and Parts 3 and 4 will air on Monday.  Then "War of the Worlds" opens on Wednesday....

Oh... and in the usual TV fashion... EVERYONE has the "EXCLUSIVE" interview with the man of the hour.

Let's just hope the story stays the same until all the interviews finish airing.

;)

I just had a grand time browsing Kritzerland.  :D Guys Haines sounds wonderful.  While I can’t be sure until I am lucky enough to listen to the CD, I believe THEY DON’T GIVE MEDALS will be my favorite song.

DR Ben - Yeah!  You found it!

My favorite chocolates there are their Salted Caramels (made with salted butter as opposed to sweet unsalted butter), and their Chipotle pepper one - a nice bit of heat with the chocolate.  I have yet to try their various drinks and libations, but I've heard they're quite good.

OH!!!

And I guess we could also head down to SoHo and hit Marie-Belle.  Their little cafe in the back... Wonderful stuff.  Three types of Hot Cocoa made to order, in either European (water-based) or American (milk-based) ways.  The Aztec is my favorite.

Then, of course, up a block and around the corner to Vosges Chocolates for a truffle or two.  But they also have chocolate drinks as well.

And then uptown to Serendipity for their amazing chocolate creation....

Hmm, Jose, didn't you say something earlier today about curbing your "appetite". But, I guess since so much walking will be done, ALL those calories will be burnt off, right? Of course, right! (a Fiddler reference).

Yes, Jane, you're right. We will be on Jane Street and flying on a chocolate high!

I just left Kritzerland and I am now the proud pre-owner of After the Ball and Mr. Haine's new CD.

Actually, whenever I'm in NYC I lose weight because off all the walking.  In fact, when I was up there in March for Jewish Thighs, I lost five pounds.  And that was after an almost daily stop at the Chelsea Market for Fat Witch Brownies!

So, is October too cold to do an ice cream, gelato and sorbetti tour?

Cones, Il Labarotorio del Gelato, Ciao Bella, Otto Enoteca Pizzeria (they have an amazing olive oil gelato served with strawberries!), etc....

OK... Time to chill in front of the TV for a bit...  I think I'm staying here tonight again.  Just too tired to drive back.  -And according to the traffic reports, the northbound traffic on 95 is already pretty thorny.

Laters...

Jose, you know about Cones! Of course, you know about Cones.

It's some of the best ice cream and gelato I have ever tasted. The fruit product is amazing. It's like eating a piece of fruit.

Keith sweetly called me out on the deck to keep him company.  When I saw the very sharp bright metal saw on the end of a long pole I wondered if his words had a hidden meaning to them.  ;D

We are having a beautiful summer evening.

Oh, said saw on the pole is to trim the top branches of the tree that were hitting the roof.

Best ice cream!  If only Keith could join us.  He will be home collecting the autumn leaves up off the ground.

Thank you for your comments on the car, DR Danise. Owning cars is an expensive proposition. FOr those of us who have no mass transit, however, they are a necessity.

Wanted BK to know that I used UNSUNG SONDHEIM as the inaugural CD in my new car's CD player. Why that one? Because I love the selections on it so much that it never leaves whatever car I'm driving.

On the subject of Tom Cruise, of his last few films, I did like COLLATERAL, but I did not enjoy THE LAST SAMURAI or VANILLA SKY and enjoyed but didn't love MINORITY REPORT.

As for Mr. Cruise's views on psychiatry or any other subject, I wouldn't give his opinions even a first thought, much less a second thought.

I decided that it wasn't worth it. I would arrive to Montreal till mid to late afternoon. That would only give me Saturday and part of Sunday. There is always next month. I think I will try to take the mid afternoon flight next time.

Very nice, and since the car isn't large, one can envelop himself in sound and be carried away. The instrumentals on the UNSUNG SONDHEIM are just wonderful for that.

And, as I've said before, Debbie Gravitte's "Water Under the Bridge" remains one of my all-time favorite SOndheim songs on ANY album.

I'm hoping SOMEONE will order something - just so we can make sure paypal is working okay.

I wish I could... So sorry I have to wait until Monday because I'm an overseas reader, even though I already have my PayPal account.    ;D  ;)

I'll visit Kritzerland.com later and thoroughly enjoy the site.  :D
