Nice digs, Jose!  I really like the back yard.

I feel exactly the same way.  It's not nice to feel something touch you and you don't know what it is.  Not to mention we have to do the Sting Ray shuffle or risk getting stung.     That HURTS!

Sting Ray! So dangerous, they have a deadly poison!

I haven’t read anyone dying from stepping on one, DR Hisaka but I have been at the beach when someone has stepped on one.  I felt so sorry for the guy.

I know when I will arrive in NY, just don’t know how long I need to stay, making it very difficult to book a hotel.  I’m very disappointed to say the Comfort Inn is now booked except for the first 3 nights of my trip.

Sorry about that DR Jane.  The rooms do seem to be going fast.  The Muse was booked a month ago.  I had already booked the Comfort Inn but was still looking at the time.

Ben thank you for the Fitzgerald link.

Ron since I am eating I find the toe jam comment disgusting.   ;D
Not taking a bath wasn’t an option for me (every night at 5:00-groan), so I guess the subject never came up.

Well, it is syrup on fried mashed potatos. It is pretty good!

And if it is Golden Syrup it is even better. :)

I am horrified to see that flights from Portland to Burbank have gone from $158 round trip 6 months ago to $340 the last several weeks and now are at $389!!! Son of a *&$#@...I am already commited to going, and I sure don't want to miss going...but for the sake of Buddha why does it have to be so expensive right now?

Does it get any cheaper if I wait until the last minute to get a ticket...or does that make it MORE expensive?

The cost usually goes up the closer to the date you book.  It might be less to travel to LAX, even with the cab fair.  What travel sites are you using?

Don't forget the Museum of the City of New York at 105th and 5th - I keep telling people about it, but nobody EVER goes!  :P

I haven't been to any museums in NY.

Hisaka thanks for the photo.  Those are big.  I wonder if they are Japanese plums or European ones.

Those prunes are imported from Oregon, DR JANE. That's why I asked you if you know the product company, as they pruduce firs-rate prunes.
It's amazing you use a miso as one of ingrediends in your home-made dressing. :D

I should have mentioned Japanese plums are very popular in Oregon.  We even have a tree in our yard.  Is there an Oregon address for the prunes?  I couldn't find anything on line for the brand name you mentioned.

Miso is also very popular here. :)

Happy birthday, Dear Reader OzDerek!

Two words: potato chips.

History class was boring today. Nothing new there.

Ann, mashed potatoes make everything taste better.

Speaking of potatoes, tonight I had a baked potato with sautéed onions from the garden, assorted vegetables and scrambled eggs with avocado.

I'd check with importers in Japan, I think, and I tell you.  Later :)

DR Jane,
I checked Expedia.com, Orbitz and the basic Alaska Airlines website.

I am going to call Alaska right now and see if they have ANY cheaper flights. LAX really wasn't much cheaper, unfortunately.

Danise you did keep warning me to book a hotel, but what could I do without knowing my departure date.

Thank you Hisaka.  I just thought of a place I can look for them.  We now have an Oregon Store, which is only products made in Oregon, in our town.

Jetblue doesn't fly from Portland to Los Angeles or Burbank....rather limited flights just yet....but on the happy side, they do fly to New York (JFK) round trip for VERY cheap!!!

Anyway, I am finding that booking directly through Alaska Airlines website is cheapest...however it has gone up $20 since I looked at work earlier today...so I am going to book now before they decide to raise the price again, dang it!!!

Can you get a non-stop flight from Portland or do you have to stop in San Francisco?

I believe I recorded You'll Never Know.  I believe the director and adaptor of the show paid for the recording.

And Mr. Guy Haines Make a special Guest Appearance on it,

and the stars were

Harry Groener•David Garrison•Kristin Chenoweth•Angela Teek•Donna McKechnie

Paul Lazarus was the director and did some additional adaptation.
The main guy was Rowland Leigh who did it.

DR Jane,
Thankfully it is non-stop. I wasn't able to choose as seat going, but coming back I got my aisle seat  :D

I don't know if I will need to book a car or not. I am not sure of what my itinerary will be on Sunday and Monday...I hope to drive into Los Angeles and visit with Carolyn Kearney and her husband, maybe take them out to dinner on Monday. Sunday night it would be fun to go see a show or a movie if there is anything playing that would be of interest. I guess I can just get the car after I arrive there.

More outrageously inaccurate history on EMPIRE tonight though as a melodrama it's been a guilty pleasure.

Don't know what HBO has in mind for its new series ROME, but it must be better than this, and with the latitude that HBO has in presenting things less censored, it should be interesting to see and compare.

Hi gang! Sorry I've been E&T. The systems guy at the new gig was sick, so I didn't have some of the tools I needed, computer-wise. Plus, I kinda had to feel out a sense of how much I can be on the net. Sounds like all will be okay. It's an easy going place. Laid back. They took me out for Italian today.

It's a good thing TPunk is on HHW now to keep me up to date on the goings-on.

With all the news information about HARRY POTTER over the last few days, I pulled out the first film in the series and watched it again tonight. Most enjoyable though special effects are far better in the second and third editions than in this first one.

In the "Hey, Neat!" department:  In my Comcast spam folder, I found an e-mail from Rupprecht.  I didn't read it, though--it's probably all about him.

Our airfare to NYC was the most expensive this year that it has ever been, and we booked the flights months ago. Of course, we are two-three weeks later than usual, so the time of year we're traveling might have had something to do with it.

Yeah, in the middle of Queens, on a street that has some chop shops and a Hostess Factory Store exists a cool Italian Restaurant that was quite pleasant, I must say.

I am a potato fiend. Specifically french fries.

Fries in a cup, that is the way to do it. And not just any cup, the cup should have the image of golden brown fries on it. Gets me every time.

I am also a fan of getting mashed potatos AND fries and dipping the fries into the mashed potatoes.

Nice photos, DR JOSE.  The snug backyard with a rock staircase is beautiful. I have a dream of making my tiny garden a rock garden with a lot of alpine plants like an edelweiss.

LOL!  Sorry, Hisaka.  I read it that you wanted a rock garden with lots of airplane parts.  It must be the Vicadin.
