I managed to go back to sleep and get a couple more hours of shut-eye.

I am almost never able to do that. Once I wake up, it's a rare, rare morning when I can fall back asleep. When I was younger, I could do it easily, but since I turned 50, I can't do it.

So see what horrors lie ahead for you, bk, when YOU turn 50!   ;D

DR VIXMOM - I am standing just above PIPPIN, wearing a baseball cap and holding a tambourine over his head!  ;D

This link might work better for anyone interested.  8)

Fun Photo, DR JRand.  When we did Pippin, we had a cast of only 9 or 10 (I don't remember exactly, it was a long time ago) and all the characters except Pippin and the Leading player came out of the players. For example I was a player in all the scenes that there were players, except for Berthe's scene, when I donned the Berthe costume and became Berthe.  It was a fun way to do it and was really the only way we could in the small space we had. We also did it in the round,  (well perhaps oblong is a better word) which was fun.

If there is one thing I cannot stand it's to hear people chewing their food and the girl that sits across from me is smacking her lips on a salmon and spinach salad and it's driving me crazy!! I guess it's better than the two bananas she  squishes through her teeth everyday as a snack, or the oatmeal and (whole!) almonds she tears through each morning, but still...STOP THE MADNESS!!

Yes, one of the things I hate most in the world is to hear someone eat. My brother is the world's worst about that.

We did BABY with 8 people in the cast: the three couples and then 2 people who played the other roles. In numbers where other chorus people were needed (like "Two People in Love" which we called our "Love American Style" number), everyone came on stage when ensemble was needed. It worked wonderfully well.

Watched the William Powell documentary today. It was OK, but I longed for more movie clips. The information on his stage career and work in silents was very interesting.

I watched the episode from THE THIN MAN TV show which is on the special features disc, too. I remember liking the show as a kid (probably because of Asta). Not the greatest show in the world, had none of the "feel" of the THIN MAN films, but for a half hour mystery series, probably not the worst ever made.

Back from the pressing plant, the El Portal, and my booklet designer's home environment.

We received two lovely reviews today, which I'll either reprint here or link to.

Then I put in SECONDS and watched the first hour. Such wonderful direction, great moody cinematography by James Wong Howe, and easily Rock Hudson's best performance ever.

After the run of bedroom comedies and action dramas he had done, however, it's not hard to see how the public just would not like him in this. I liked it then, and I like it now.

I am inspired to compose me some poetry:

Oh, dark gunk under my fingernails,
Whence forth did you come?
.....
DR Dan (the Man), you have now given us proof that you are the lovechild of Phoebe Buffay and the captain of a passing Vogon starship!

Good Afternoon!

The dryers should be done drying in about 10 minutes, so in the meantime....

I came across this article in Richmond's Style Weekly.  -Just another reason to get out of dodge - well, at least Richmond...  Well, maybe even Virginia.  *Unfortunately, I'm pretty sure this type of attitude and situation exists elsewhere.

However, elsewhere in this week's issue a nice re-review of Stella's, my favorite place to eat in Richmond - as well as a nice tribute to the namesake herself, Stella Dikos.

http://styleweekly.com/article.asp?idarticle=10830

*And it was nice to see a picture of Stella - since I don't think I have one of her.

...Of course, now I want a bowl of her avgolemono soup and a slice of her baklava and/or her Greek Cheese Pie and/or her Homemade Bread and/or her Black Walnut-Apple-Streusel Loaf and/or....

Dear Ron P.,

We share your grief!
Everytime I read about Charlie Chaplin I think of Miss Vickie... and I know you'll know why I'm saying that!

When my Mimi cat disappeared from my parents' house, I was living in Florida, and we never found her body and that thought  still hurts!
It might seem foolish to some but losing a pet is like losing a dear relative or friend.
It's ok to feel sad!

Well, if you could see the looks the Admin Assistant gives me - you know the kind where you feel like you're not worthy to exist - you wouldn't be so impressed.

what is the date?

Why thank you for asking!

;)

It's next Friday, August 26.  In fact, that is also DR Jrand's natal anniversary too.  -As I'm sure BK will be sure to post in the notes for that day.

;D

In any case...

I was actually thinking of holding some sort of "party" - especially since I'll be in New York City.  Once I'm back Sunday, I'll start planning, although, I just want something informal.  I'll probably just pick a place, pick a time span, and get the word out.  As long as I'm among friends, I know it will be a good birthday.

is that so wrong?

There is nothing wrong with that at all.  And since they just recently did another round of sprucing up and house-cleaning, you may notice some new things since the last time you saw it.

You'll also be seeing Hugh Panaro as the Phantom - love him - just wish he wasn't all covered up in that show - what a face!  what a body!  ;)   And if he indeed is going to join the cast of Lestat, well, then you may be catching one of his final performances as The Phantom.

Enjoy!

*I'd actually be interested in meeting you at the show, but I'm heading down to Charlotte that weekend for fall SETCs.  -Timing is everything.
