Sort of TOD, and going against what I just wrote, we took the grandlads to Best Buy because they each had a gift card to let them pick out some music.
Alex picked out a CD by Toby Keith called Shock'n Y'all. I think it was deliberate on his part, because his father cannot stand Country music (because his father loves it) and because his mother would be upset by some of the lyrics. Hey, the first song on the disc is I Love This Bar. Der Brucer didn't know what he was helping to perpetuate.
William, far less rebellious, picked out a DVD of old Casper cartoons.
I, meanwhile, spotted a recent release by Elton John, Peachtree Road. It's very Southern influenced, and quite enjoyable. Not much hard-rockin', more thoughtful than he was as a kid. And Taupin's lyrics are as good if not better than they've ever been.
