From smooth trumpeter Bobby Hackett.

Thanks for the Pernell Roberts picture, DR MBarnum. I never much cared for BONANZA after he left; he was always my favorite of the brothers.

Hmmm...statistically speaking, one of them Cartwright boys might have been gay.

No, with my luck, it would have been Hop Sing!

I finally got to the end of MAN OF LA MANCHA. My lord, I had forgotten how AWFUL Ian Richardson's singing voice is in this. He did better talk-singing as Henry Higgins a few years later, but he was abominable in this. No wonder "To Each His Dulcinea" was dropped from the movie. The producers were sparing the audience of serious noise pollution.

Watched another CSI: NY episode afterward. This one had to do with Mac (Gary Sinese) being an eyewitness to a crime in a coffee shop where he stopped in to have breakfast. The case, as usual, was a lot more complicated than it first appeared, much more than the simple shooting it seemed to be.

Really enjoyed HOUSE tonight as the three young doctors were on their own as disagnosticians while House and his ex-flame were out of town on hospital business. And their patient couldn't communicate with them to tell them what was wrong.

LAW & ORDER: SVU had another Christopher Meloni-centered episode this week as a child abduction was, once again, not what it seemed. As Mariska Hargitay is pregnant in real life (but her character on the show is not), her work load is obviously being eased in the second half of the season. Tamira Tunie who plays the medical examiner was brought it to work with Meloni on the episode, and it was nice to see her doing something new on the show after all these years.

Tomorrow I'll watch both episodes of SCRUBS, THE CLOSER and THE SHIELD which were recorded tonight as I watched other shows.

To play in Toyland?  I thought that was where you had spent the last few days.

Saw the ratings for last night's ABC premieres: very poor. THE BACHELOR did the best of the three shows and JAKE IN PROGRESS did the worst, but all three each did less than a 5.0 rating (meaning less than 5% of TV sets turned on during the time period were watching ABC) which is not good news.

Ah no....I would never argue about ratios....just reporting what the DVD case and my television screen revealed.

The pictures were pretty good, the color sequence in HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER really looked good....but the mono sound is terrible on ALL four movies!  I had to turn the volume up a third more than I normally do just to get a level I could hear!  Grrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrrr..................

I did not get my EARTH VS THE SPIDER/WAR OF THE COLOSSAL BEAST today...or my Roger Corman Trilogy  :-\

I cancelled my order from Amazon because Best Buy had the other AIP set already on the shelf (early) and so I just figured I would pick ithe other one up in person on Tuesday....unfortunately the DVD  was sitting in the backroom and the clerk was unable to find it (their computer said they had 2 copies in stock)

As for Roger Corman....that dvd hasn't arrived yet. Guess I will check back this weekend.

Guess what?  Pernell Roberts got his start at the Arena Stage in D.C. during the early 50's.....

DRJOSE there must be some photos of Mr Roberts in THE GLASS MENAGERIE around there somewhere.

What is the third set of the AIP double features....and it will surely have the same bad sound and wrong ratio....but it will be good to have them.

My Corman trio has shipped but NOT arrived yet either.

Hmm... I'll have to check around.  However, there is one rather "imposing" shot of an early production of Three Sisters.  It's quite... interesting.  ;)

No third set, JRand55. The HOW TO MAKE A MONSTER/BLOOD OF DRACULA was the one I picked up this weekend (which they inadvertently put out on the shelf early).

Back from the preview which, for the most part, went very well - we had two thirds of a full house, maybe more (in this theater, two-thirds looks like a full house, frankly).  More about it in the notes.

I forgot to say that one of my all-time favorite album covers is for the Norrie Paramour album, Autumn.  Maybe someone can find an image of it.

It's the ATTACK OF THE WUSSBURGERS!  Be afraid, be very afraid.

I'll write the notes now, and I have a couple of photos to post.
