But all O.J. managed to rescue was a single kittycat!

You'da think he could have rescued at least two!

Maybe he murdered the other one?

That is EXACTLY what sucks about AI...it's popularity and has little to nothing to do with whether the person is a better singer.

As it is advertized!

It is American Idol - a popular fan icon!
Not American Talent, or Best American Singer.

By definition, the most "popular" entrant should win.

der Brucer

I have many, many Barry Manilow albums, but nary a one by Tony Bennet.

I have Dolly Parton and Celine Dion, but no Maria Callas.

My money follows my "pop" taste, not my critical judgement.

You know prior to my taking a postion with our state government I worded in a Pharmacy as a tech...one of the pharmacists was a huge Rush Limbaugh fan and we had to listen to his talks show every morning for a couple of hours (4 hours, maybe)....I was so stressed out some days! LOL!

Oddly enough this was my favorite pharmacist to work with. Go figure.

So does anyone know the song that goes "None greater than thee oh lord, none greater than thee" ? Apparently Danny Rolling broke into song just before he was executed and no one could figure out what the song was.

http://www.cnn.com/2006/LAW/10/25/jersey.samesex.ap/index.html

Well, according to the actual news report, maybe it's not such a landmark decision.

Oh, but it is, Blanche, it is!

The court has held, that based on the State Of NJ Constitution, gay men and women must be granted equal co-habitation rights.

They left it to the legislature to either:

A. Amend the law to allow same-sex marriage, or
B. Create a new civil construct for same-sex unions

Quote
The Legislature must either amend the marriage statutes to include same-sex couples or create a parallel statutory structure, which will provide for, on equal terms, the rights and benefits enjoyed and burdens and obligations borne by married couples," the court held.

The court ruled that the state does not have a "legitimate governmental purpose" in denying same-sex couples "the financial and social benefits and privileges given to their married heterosexual counterparts."

Considering that the Whacko Right went apoplectic at Condi's reference to a gay man's "mother-in-law", this ruling may require the generation of new terminology to describe their dismay!

And since this was a NJ Supreme Court ruling based on the NJ Constitution, there is no recourse to a higher court!

The anti-crowd will have no recourse but to attempt to amend the State Constitution, which I am sure they will try!

Anyone planning a trip to Melbourne, Australia in 2007?

For anyone's money, it will be THE PLACE TO BE when Anthony Warlow stars again in "Phantom of the Opera!

For those who didn't know, Warlow was elected a "Living National Treasure".

He'd have had my vote, had I been eligible to vote!

No, I have no Halloween plans this year. No party invitations, and I just plan to watch TV as usual that evening. If it's mostly reruns, I'll pull out something spooky like ROSEMARY'S BABY.
Ewwwwww!!!!!

That film creeps me out too much to even watch it!

Newman's "Beware of The Naked Man" should be included.
I'd prefer a song called "Beware of The Naked Man... But Take Pictures!"

...And now, I'd like to share some news with the sweetest site on the internet (and the most popular):

Tomorrow I will receive my manager's card and the keys to Sam Morgan's Clubhouse.
I will still be serving first and foremost, but, I have elected to take on major managerial duties as well for the dining room and catered parties.
How often in life do we actually get to do those things which we passionately love to do, and get paid to do it as well?
My first solo managerial day will be Sunday, whereupon I also have a party of sixty people in the downstairs dining room; I'll be working the party with one bartender as well as opening the restaurant, getting out the cash drawers and all the other duties for start-up.
No back-up mixologist?  For sixty?

I do not envy you.  At all.   :'(

But we DID attend a very good set by a Tony Bennett accolyte at last year's Jazz Fest, here in Rehoboth.

Der Brucer and I have been clippered.  Yes, we have had our hairs clipped, each of us, and look much more smartly than we did before.

The reunion on Saturday becomes more and more an actuality.

But for now, I must prepare his dinner.   ::)

One small difference in my assessment -- Poseidon Adventure featured better acting, IMO.  No one in Towering Inferno came close to matching Hackman's performance in Poseidon.  And the combo of Astaire and Jones were no substitute for Shelley Winters and Frank Albertson.

Of course you meant Jack Albertson.
