OK...my experience with Daryl Duke :

I was hired to be the "set P.A.", assisting the director, D.D., on set of a feature filmed in Atlanta.

The day he arrived, I was assigned to take him to his first meeting with his actors. The meeting was close to the hotel, so I picked him up in plenty of time. I had no idea he had a detour in mind...

He had me take him to Friedman's Shoes, a shoestore in a bad part of town. He went in and shopped for shoes while I was parked illegally outside. He did not want me to leave and come back later, so I had to risk getting a ticket. Various shady characters started hanging around my littie VW bug, thinking I was looking to buy drugs.

After about an hour, D.D. emerged from the store. (I don't remember if he bought any shoes, I was so freaked out by having to hang out there.)

The next morning, the production manager called and fired me over the phone. I asked him why, and he said that the director missed his first meeting with the actors because some dumb little girl they'd hire got lost driving him there because she didn't know her way around Atlanta. (I'd lived there 12 years at that point.)

This was the first time I had been fired from a job and so I took it very hard. I had other friends working on the film, and over the course of filming, many other people were fired. But at that point, I was the first and had no basis for comparison so I was emotionally crushed and depressed.

Ironically: the name of the film was "Hard Feelings"!

Gee...didn't mean to start a new page with a negative story!

I hope DD doesn't have any relatives on this site, but that's what happened!

I watched "Law and Order: SVU" last night.

In it, a woman had a wonderfully alliterative line of dialogue, in which she was telling the detectives where they could find some letters from her estranged father:

"...in the basement in a box by the boiler."

It almost sounds like something from the game Clue - "I accuse Mr. Brown, in the basement in a box by the boiler, with a boomarang."

Rad Fulton is sending me some motion picture entertainments for my viewing pleasure and I am looking forward to it!

On the flip side I sent Lisa Montell some DVDs of her episodes of FRONTIER DOCTOR and CHEYENNE.

DR DANISE - stitches should just eventually fall out.  They are made from material that won't harm your pet....as far as I know.  I am like DR JANE, never had to have stitches removed from man or beast.

Does anyone know anything about "The Scene"---the Tony Shalhoub play at 2econd State Theatre? I'm thinking about trying to catch it during my brief hit and run in NY @ the 18th.

Last summer, when I had that split lip that required stitches, I indeed had them removed by the doctor that had sewn them in.

And it's not always a good idea to have stitches stay where they are.  After Buster got, em, clipped, shall we say, he developed an infection where some of the stitches remained.  Peggy, too, had an infection after her surgury, same reason.  Not major infections, but they did require some drainage.

And, yes, I was billed for my office visit.  The vet for Peggy was much nicer.

Since Bk was just on a frenzy, my question for Ask BK Day, if anyone's game or cares  :) :

Have you ever gotten on a tear about something on the internet that in retrospect you wish you could go back and delete, but there it is for posterity?  (Similarly, or alternatively, have you ever left a message for somebody that you wish you could have taken back, even before the person got it?)

One of mine is when I posted bitterly on the internet about the scandalous seating situation at a play that i really wanted to see, only to get an email from the significant other of a friend saying he was a lead producer on that show.  Tried to go back and delete my message board postings, but to no avail.

I've had fits on several sites, including this one; I'm proud of none of them and prefer to let my sunny nature and ebulience of youth speak for themselves.

Now that MONK has crashed and burned last season, I go into a rage whenever I hear the tv ad for the new season with Mr Shalhoub whining "it's wobbly, it's wobbly!"  I can't imagine ever wanting to see him in anything again.

That was harsh.

Ahhh....DR DANISE.... seems as if there can be problems.  So you have both sides spoken for now.  And it would certainly be worth a visit and some $$$ to avoid an infection.

I never PAID to have stitches removed.  Unless they were the kind that dissolved they have been removed.

DR Danise - You should not be charged for the removal of the stitches - especially if they're the type that are supposed to removed.  And even though I've only had one experience with stitches myself, I've had friends - and/or their pets - who've had them taken out no charge.

*I was hoping that the stitches I had in my thumb would be the dissolvable ones, but due to the location of the cut and the size of the stitches themselves, they had to use regular ones.  And the removal of them was basically pre-billed when they were stitched in.
