I began the evening finishing THE ADVENTURES OF ROBIN HOOD. Always love it when all the men of Sherwood get down on one knee when King Richard reveals himself. The show of love and respect is always very moving to me.

Next, I put in the second disc in the set and watched the GLORIOUS TECHNICOLOR documentary again.

The scenes from ROBIN HOOD in that documentary have not had their color fiddled with at all, and they are very, very bright. I think the remastered DVD (using Ultra Resolution) looks very nice, but the technicians did dial the color intensity back very much.

When is someone going to propose to me, damn it all?

OK dear Esteemed, suave, sylph-like, and macho BK.....

We certainly don't want you stuck between a twinky and a cul-de-sac, so...

Will you marry me?

(There Lizzy....at least you been asked;  you don't have to die being an old maid that ain't been asked!)

OK, so I ain't Leslie Parrish....I ain't blonde....oh hell, I ain't even a girl.  But to quote Joe E. Brown,"....oh well, no one's perfect!"

To quote Charlie Brown -- "... AARRRGGGGGGHHH !"

Tonight's AMERICAN IDOL:

The difference between the ladies and the gentlemen in terms of singing ability, talent, showmanship, and presence was as wide as the Pacific Ocean. At least four women really brought down the house for me tonight: Stephanie, Sabrina, Melinda, and LaKisha. All of them had big, powerful voices, and they showed them off in vocally interesting performances.

And there were three others have could grow into really fine performers if they stay any length of time on the show and get some more seasoning: Jordan, Haley, and GIna.

There were a few really awful performances though: Amy, Leslie, Alaina, and Antonella and Nicole had some OK moments but were wildly inconsistent.

What we've got here is a repeat of Season 3 which had the three big diva voices: Fantasia, LaToya London, and Jennifer Hudson, and then Diana DeGarmo built and built as the season progressed. The men that year were way in the distance in terms of voice power and showmanship compared to those women. Same thing this year, too. Some great divas and some pipsqueak men.

It wouldn't surprise me at all to have the top three all be women this year.

LOST had a kind of off night for me tonight. Again, I'm much more interested in getting away from the Others and getting reaquainted with the original folks, and we didn't see them at all tonight. The origin of Jack's tattoos (or brands as they appeared to be) wasn't really interesting to me.

I guess we're supposed to make something special out of what they say : "You are among us but are not one of us," but I guess that's just another mystery that'll have to be answered later.

Good Evening!

Back from seeing Journey's End...

Former DR Jason managed to get a pair of comps from the folks over at The Golden (he's now the merchandising manager for Avenue Q.  And since they were comps, they ended up being in the second row, just off the left aisle.  At first we thought the seats were going to be a bit too close, but they turned out to be quite ideal seats.  -And the single set was small since it was a recreation of a war bunker.  So, no sightline issues.  -However, we did end up sitting right next to one of the speakers, so...  In any case...

I had no idea what the play was about, except that it was about war.  World War I to be exact.  By the end of the play, I had tears in my eyes.  And the final minutes of play - including the curtain call - are very moving.

-And I think that's all I'll say about the play.  Well... Except that it really puts names and faces to all those nameless faces and faceless names from wars past and present.

I was supposed to do a scene tomorrow morning for a beginning acting class, but with my voice thing the teacher rescheduled it to  Tuesday.

Oh...

The cast led by Hugh Dancy, Boyd Gaines, Jefferson Mays, and Stark Sands were excellent.

And I'm "glad' the show is a limited run since I have a feeling the cast would end up being shell-shocked after a long run.  -I know I would.

I would recommend the show to others, but with a reminder that the show is about war.

*And as we were looking around the audience, we spied a bunch of familiar faces: actors, production personnel, press reps, etc.  Well, once I got home, I looked up the opening date of the show, and it opens officially tomorrow, so tonight must have been a press night.

Tonight I attempted to watch THREE SMART GIRLS on TCM, but sleepyness overtook me and I dozed on and off throughout.  Did I hear Robert Osborne correctly when he said that this was a huge money maker for Universal?

My scene parter was happy because he is shy...Why is he in advanced acting? He says he does not know, it just sounded like fun.
