BTW, DR MATTH, did you notice my DVD selection? Yes, BRUTE FORCE. I quite agree with your comments. I saw the older DVD, though, not the new Criterion. Quite an engaging film.

Nurse Ginny, here.  DH Richard's shoulder surgery went fine and we've been home about an hour.  He's groggy and hungry and feeling no pain, thanks to an interscaline nerve block.  We've already scheduled the first physical therapy appointment for next Thursday and the follow-up with the surgeon for the next Thursday.

Thanks to DRs DearReaderLaura, MattH, MBarnum, Miss Karen, Jennifer, and Edisaurus for the vibes that came in while we were away.

Audition/Audition vibes for DR Cason!

Instead of an HHW Smackdown, how about an old-fashioned HHW Wienie Roast?

Would Cason as Liza be a match for my Lucy van Pelt at Camp Loyaltown?

If you'd come to LA for "The Brain" you would have seen the two of you have different approaches to acting.

Thanks for the recovery vibes, DR Jeanne.  The surgeon (who is very cute) said this recovery should be much quicker than after the surgery on the right shoulder 4 years ago.

I'm a veggie, Singdaw (though I do eat fish). I'd suggest a veggie burger, but BK HATES them! "EAT MEAT!" he says. I know: I'll have a fish sandwich. That should keep everyone happy.

Heard from the car place - naturally, it's never just the major servicing (which is hugely expensive) - now, in addition to that I need front and rear brake pads (I thought it would be one or the other, not both).  In addition, the little oil leak would cost me 1500 to fix, so I said forget it.  My local gas station looked at the leak a few months ago and quoted me a price of 300 bucks, so I'll see if they can do it.  Also, there is some noise that happens occasionally when I'm turning.  He said what's causing it (can't remember  now) but that would also be a major expense along the lines of the oil leak fix.  I'll find out exactly what they're talking about and then I'll price it out at my local station.  With a car that's nine years old, when you start having to put that much dough in, then it's time to get a new car.  I'm not going to spend $3000 on fixing stuff - that's just sickening.

Needless to say, car won't be ready at lunchtime - I suspect after three, which is fine.  I worry, of course, that they've made the problems worse now that they've told me what they are.
