You will enjoy seeing some of your favorite films upconverted through the HDMI port onto your new plasma HDTV. You should notice a difference in sharpness with regular DVDs, and when you watch an HD-DVD, well, you'll be thrilled with the much increased resolution and sharpness. The best HD-DVDs (like the Blu-rays I enjoy) will look three dimensional, and you'll get spoiled very quickly.

Actually, it was the Toshiba HD-XA2 1080p HD-DVD  that I purchased.  I was misremembering the model.

There are two people in the reading that I'm really enjoying working with - Barry Pearl and Bridget Hanley.

Barry Pearl was a replacement for Randolph MacAfee in the original production of BYE BYE BIRDIE.

I pay a decent amount for my new cable package, I don't want to pay any more, that's for sure, and yet I  had come to enjoy Fox Movie Channel as an alternative or complement to TCM. Now I am reliant on TCM for my older movie fix because Fox isn't offered with this package I have.

When will the day come where you can pick exactly the stations you want and don't want? I am sure it will never happen.

That would be nirvana, DR Rodzinski. I have hundreds of channels, but truth be told, I only watch a few dozen of them. The rest are a total waste (for me).

Nice thing is that Fox has sold rights to TCM for many of their films, so you won't be doing without Fox movies even though you don't have their channel. And if you ever know that something's coming on that you'd like to have a copy of, just let me know.

Made-for-TV movie.  Aired yesterday in its entirety on Sci-Fi channel.

Dang! Oh well...I'll check for repeats. Is it based on the original Stephen King or the expanded version?

Same comments still apply. All of the Toshiba models have an HDMI connection.

A very kind offer, Matt H.

Anyway, it did seem like I was not finding as many gems to watch on Fox the last few months.

You know how stupid I am? I fell asleep watching HE WHO GETS SLAPPED on TCM last night, entirely forgetting I now have the tivo thing and could have just recorded it.  I tivo'd my very first thing this weekend. The Monkees movie HEAD.

I did watch and commented a little bit about it last night. Weren't they the parents of Lady Jane Grey or do I have it all mixed up?

Lady Jane Grey's mother was one of the children of Mary and Charles.  Of course since Mary/Margaret died of consumption with no mention of children, God knows how the Tudors will ever explain the 9-Day Queen if the series ever went so far

I totally HEAR YA on this one.  I don't want 45-55% of what any package offers.  And yet, I have to go with higher-priced packages to get what I DO want....that is, IF I opt to go that route.

I'm still getting basic-expanded analog cable.  So sue me!  I cannot fathom paying my local cable monopoly $99.95-plus per month (including HD channels and DVR -- low-end DVR, too -- rental) when most satellite companies AND A.T&T offer the same service (with high-end DVRs) for a few dollars more than I'm paying now for basic-expanded ($53/month).

I'm absolutely amazed that this set "plays" in your DVD machine.   I mean, with the highbrow nudity and all...your DVD player is certainly attuned to much lower brow, isn't it?

Or is it the VHS player that gets the cheap porn?
;D

My impression was that DR ELMORE has a two-tiered system: Masterpiece Theatre on the DVD and porn on the VCR.

Of course, it's only an impression.

Yeah, last month the cable company I am forced to use had an offer, $99 for cable, internet and phone. Well, I don't want phone, so I said, what can you do for me? Gimme the $66 package of internet and cable, right? The lady on the phone basically said the internet you get for that price is crap, and the cable is not that many channels (although I should have had her tell me exactly which ones). So she upsold me with the DVR and now I'm paying $100 for just cable and internet. The thing is I wouldn't be too sad if I just got Fox Movies.

Well, DR Edi, that sounds like fun, especially for those who've kept up with the series.  My DH and I started watching the first season on DVD, liked what we saw, but had to return the set to the library and haven't gotten back to it.  Think I'll look into that...

I read about this earlier in the afternoon. Since Tony Denison is my favorite actor on the show (after Kyra and Jon, of course), I was delighted with this news.

Well, I had to put myself on the waiting list for season one of The Closer - all five copies are checked out and 12 people are ahead of me.  Season 2 is still on order (5 copies) and I'm #28 on the list for that.

My DVD of A LITTLE NIGHT MUSIC came in the mail today. I won't get to it until tomorrow, but some screen captures I've seen make it look a thousand times better than those hideous full frame videotape and laserdiscs.

Ah, yes, that makes sense, of course, since Lady Jane was so young when Edward died.
