And it's once again bedtime in the land of OZ.
Back soon to another François day.  Old world charm still lives.

A stately French Minuet seems to be in order.

and one for Minuet.

I haven't been at HHW long enough to have a fondest memory yet...

But may I say that a more gracious, witty, friendly, and compassionate group I have never met - or hope to meet.  And I'm hoping to meet more DRs in person very soon!

DR JigSaw has started mooning.  I blame RON.

Hmmm...

I wonder.....

Does dear DR Tomovoz mean this:

Or that OTHER kind of mooning?    ::)

Or mooing, for that matter!    :P

Rob Lowe's golf ball hits flying bird
THE ASSOCIATED PRESS

WEST DES MOINES, Iowa -- A ball hit by Rob Lowe during a celebrity golf game hit the Iowa state bird in mid-flight Wednesday.

The 43-year-old actor was hitting an approach shot on the fourth hole when his ball hit a goldfinch, dropping about 50 yards short of the green, The Des Moines Register reported.

As the rest of the players in his group broke out in laughter and applause, Lowe raised his arms in mock celebration.

"That's my birdie," he said after looking at the bird, which lay motionless on the ground.

"That's unbelievable. Who comes here and kills the state bird? Only me."

Lowe, who appears on ABC's "Brothers & Sisters," was playing in Principal Charity Classic Pro-Am at the Glen Oaks Country Club. He also starred in NBC's "The West Wing."

Good morning, H/Ks!

Although I don't have a favorite HHW moment, I certainly have had many chuckles, as well as more than a few laughing out loud times here. In a world where it's so easy to lose touch, where there are so many changes, it's comforting to have a site like this--a community of souls who share many interests and values.

What fun you all are!

And, BK, you have every right to be very proud of the site you created.

DR JRand56 - she's not quite in 1st place at this very moment, but she's close, and in the running.

For those DRs who may wish to cast an extra vote or two, here is the link.

I just voted and she's very close to first, but no cigar at the moment

Thursday morning greetings!  We have a departmental meeting today and, along with a co-worker, I'm in charge of refreshments.  She's showcasing her recent trip to Italy by bringing bruschetta and trimmings, so I brought compatible cookies - lemon pizzelle and Pepperidge Farm Milanos and Veronas.  She didn't visit either Milan or Verona, but they were the best I could do.

...Speaking of the NYPL, DR Ginny, if you want to go, my only free time is Friday at noon, so plan your day accordingly.  I will be there, most likely, with or without you, but it's something you've mentioned in the past. so . . .

DR Elmore, you know how good I am at taking direction  ;), so Friday (June 29) at noon it is!  DH Richard and I would like to take the guided Lincoln Center tour, maybe at 2:30.  He has never toured LC and my last tour was a backstage tour with the Theatre Library Association in 1974 or 1980.

Moon Pies, Scooter Pies...to me they always sounded better in theory than in actuality.

But when you attach them to nine volt toy motor kits...

TOD:

I always enjoyed our award nights when the posts come fast and furious.  Our food related movie title day made me laugh and laugh and laugh.  I always enjoy when we do any kind of movie/play quoting, along with any kind of word play in general.

The chat rooms were fun, too--even though the chat room would often freeze up on my PC.

And I miss the Unseemly Trivia Contest!  BK, it's time for another run of these!

Good morning!

No A/C yet, but today WILL be the day. It was cool enough this morning to open things up one more time, but tonight, it's not getting out of the 70s, and you can't air out a house with that kind of temperature. Highs in the 90s today and for the foreseeable future. Yuck!

I think what has impressed me most about the site is that no matter what squabbles we occasionally get into with one another, when the chips are down and folks need help, those petty differences are forgotten and everyone jumps on the bandwagon. The level of compassion and understanding here is pretty overwhelming.

And it's great to be at a site where we're all allowed to be ourselves.

I won't watch THE STARTER WIFE or STUDIO 60 "live" tonight, but I have set the DVR to record them both and I'll watch later without suffering through endless commercial breaks. Being able to get through the stories in 40 minutes is a HUGE time saver.

Today I'll be watching another episode of THE CLOSER, starting the next-to-last disc in the ANGEL season 4 set, and watch THE LOVED ONE which is waiting now in the player.

TOD:  It's something that now that I'm on the East Coast, I can rarely do anymore...but I used to loved awaiting midnight when the new notes would usually go up and then BK, myself, and a few other hardy late-nighters would sometimes get into wild and crazy, nonsensical posting frenzies that would lead to three pages of posts to greet folks the following morning.  Limbo, everyone!  How low can you go?!
