Well, I've stretched, cooled-down, and had my post-run meal.  And now I guess I should shower, especially since I'm playing a short audition session at 6:00.  Hmm.. And I guess I could head to Splash afterwards for a bit... Hmm...

Well, I didn't put it in quotes, so... Just a turn of phrase there.

I just read Seth Rudetsky's column at Playbill On-Line and this little exchange made me laugh out loud

I loved the reveal of who the Tony hosts were by holding up photos Chorus Line-style, but the most shocking reveal was … Angela Lansbury has a head shot!? For what? When she goes to an EPA? Is there a resume on the back?

ANGELA LANSBURY
AEA, SAG, AFTRA eligible
MAME- Mame (original cast)

The Color Purple had its World Premiere at the Alliance Theatre in Atlanta. The Alliance Theatre received the Annual Regional Theatre Tony Award last night. Fantasia recently went into The Color Purple in the starring role and got excellent reviews. As a tie-in to Color Purple's continuing presence on Broadway and its beginnings at the Alliance Theatre they decided to have Fantasia sing a song from the show.
I heard that a shady Atlanta developer bribed the Tony producers - that's how they do things in Atlanta, so I hear.

Well, the eBay item in question has just gone over the $400 mark.  I'm too cheap to go any higher and I kind of doubt that it's near that value anyway.

Thanks for mentioning that, Ben. I've never seen ACL (I should be disbarred from HHW between that and never seeing COMPANY!) so the open didn't make a lot of sense to me.

ALERT: Kyra Sedgwick on ACTOR'S STUDIO tonight on Bravo!

Check your local listings!

I hope she's carrying a strong detergent to wash off the oiliness of the oleaginous Mr Lipton.  Whatever he oozes from every pore ain't charm.

It has rained on and off all day today. Never anything really heavy, but bursts of rain and then it moves out fairly quickly. More rain to happen a few hours later, and then the pattern keeps repeating.

Does e-Bay not let you place "reserve bids" - or whatever the term is where you can set what you "high bid" will be, but you start off at the current "winning low".  But if someone outbids you, then it goes up incrementally until your threshold is reached?

Just wondrin'?

Here's the deal:

If you bid ON eBay...there are some folks who will bid and bid and bid UNTIL "they" have the highest bid and run the price well above its value.  This they will do many days before the auction ends.

However, if you place a bid with esnipe, and it doesn't get recorded until 6 seconds before closing of the auction, you stand a very good chance of winning it because the "high bidder" feels secure that he won't be outbid and, therefore, won't have an outstanding "reserve bid" to compensate.

If my highest bid on a much-wanted item would be $1,000, I'd consider myself a fool for bidding that amount at eBay.  Someone who also wants it will keep bidding the price up until HE has the high bid.  If he doesn't know I'm there, he may only bid half that much and think he's got it in the bag.

Does that help explain why I'd rather use a sniping service?

Why is she a "beard"? He just got paired up with her to present an award...it's not like we thought they were dating or anything!

As DR derBrucer later admitted, DR Edi, it was a lame attempt at humor.

That's how they do things but they don't throw any money at the arts...just politicians.

Awareness of this fact is why many Arts organizations put politicians on their Boards. I've sold many a $250 banquet ticket because of that linkage.

This did not make me want to see the show.

Frankly, I found her miscast. I don't think of Audra McDonald as plain or old maidish in look or manner. She'd have to be the greatest actress in the world to overcome by built-in preconceptions about her and her unsuitability for this role.

Had a nice long lunch, and then did some shopping meaning that I got back later in the afternoon than I thought I would and didn't have as much time as usual for afternoon viewing.

I began my afternoon watching BRIDGE TO TERABITHIA. Lovely film, wonderful sentiments and life lessons, and genuinely moving (and it earned my tears honestly).

And it's one of the very best standard definition transfers I've ever seen: sharp as a tack, rich, deep color, and mountains of detail.

In fact my only disappointment was the total takeover of CGI at the end. Until then, there had been a little CGI and lots of imagination, and that's how I would have LOVED for Terabithia in the end to have been represented instead of something out of SLEEPING BEAUTY.

Next, I watched a bonus feature on the disc concerning the themes of the book/film. Naturally, several middle school teachers were the touchstones of the featurette discussing how rich the book (and by extension the film) is in itslessons about life. There were also interviews with the original author and her son (all grown up now and a handsome man) for whom the book was written.
