Thank you one and all for the good vibes regarding my back. Unfortunately, it continues to get worse, not better.

Sorry to hear that, DR TCB. My own back problems were helped greatly by the addition of magnesium supplements. Two excellent books on the subject of magnesium: The Miracle of Magnesium by Carolyn Dean, MD (very easy read) and Mildred Selig's book (can't recall exact title). Selig is considered the expert on magnesium. I found both books on Amazon.

Hope you find some relief!

HERE’S a nose that needs grinding!
This is what DR Ron Pulliam’s and bk’s noses FEEL like on bad allergy days…

LOL. Slow day at work? Or perhaps you're doing all this from your laptop while sitting in stalled traffic?   :)

I use closed captioning many times when I'm watching a British film or television show. I also use it when I'm watching something while riding the exercise bike.

Good point. I gave up on a DVD recently because I couldn't understand a thick Scottish accent. I'll keep this in mind. Thx.

Last night I watched MAD ABOUT MEN, the Glynis Johns mermaid movie.  What a wonderful silly little film!  I loved it!  If you've never seen it I highly recommend you catch it on TCM.

I also watched LADIES THEY TALK ABOUT on TCM, which was a lot of fun in a WOMEN IN CELLBLOCK H kind of way.

Well, it appears that someone has stolen my idea and went to the trouble of actually writing a book called Broadway Babylon.

Well, it had better be good and trashy, that's all I'll say.

I have a problem with his books: everyone he claims is gay or lesbian is dead, and since that's the case, do I really believe all the quotes and anecdotes are accurate or his "version"?  If I trusted him more as an author, perhaps.

Well it says "never before told" stories.....so hopefully it won't be a conpendium of the familiar like SECOND ACT TROUBLE turned out to be.

Since I had read originally only two or three of the collected articles in SECOND ACT TROUBLE, I was glad to have it, and to know where "the familiar" originated.

I also remember that when I saw Elizabeth Taylor in THE LITTLE FOXES, fifth row center was only $30, full price, and that was considered outrageous for a play at the time.  My, how old I'm getting!

To the tune of the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil"

Let me proudly introduce myself...

Hi, my name is Mz Karen and I used to be a HHW gratuitous poster many, many postings ago...You thought you were rid of me, but I'm BAAA-CKKK! And I expect, no, make that demand, a flurry of frenzied postings welcoming me back -- postings like "Mz Karen, my darling, youhave been missed terribly"  "Things were never the same once you left us"  "Don't you ever pull that stunt again" etc., etc.

And I saw Fiddler on the Roof in London for 90 cents! Not the best seats, but still!

Jeanne - I believe I saw FIDDLER on Broadway for $2.80 in 1972 or 1973 - next-to-last row, though.

I too feel as absent as Ms. Karen, the lovely woodland nymph of the hills of Prescott!

But alas, it is indeed another day of "nose to the grindstone!"  UGH!!!  I need time to hassle my dear and lovely Mikey Barnum..... I need time to rave about all of dear Larry's talent, wicked sense of humor, inspirational orchestrations, and wisdom in so many diverse areas, .......and I need time to unmercifully pick on dear and sweet Jose, and threaten him with chastisement of frightening proportions......

But,..... I have to get ready to head out of the house again very shortly for a long day at the grindstone.

It's revoltin' I tell you !

I was in the nose-bleed seats, but still enjoyed the show!

But just before running, I do have to say an early good morning to dear Esteemed, buffed, consulted, lithe, and sinewy BK --

I also am worried dear Mensch, that you might not have seen my PayPal missive that I sent to the Kritzerland address.  I just don't want to miss out on the Return To Oz CD .....if it's still "in process" then that's fine.

Good morning all... Speaking of James Thurber..my favorite story is The Night the Bed Fell.

Always one of my favorite stories to teach to my eighth graders. The ninth graders (and eighth graders taking advanced English) got "The Secret Life of Walter Mitty").

Tom Ewell is one of my least favorite actors, but he reads "Bed" beautifully on the A THURBER CARNIVAL cast album.

Good morning!

The cool mornings continue, and I am loving them very much! What a pleasure to breathe fresh air and feel the cool on my skin sitting next to the window in my office.
