FOX 411

Quote
Meanwhile, NBC is dealing with nailing down the salaries of Chris Noth and Vincent D’Onofrio, stars of “Law and Order: Criminal Intent.”

The show was saved from the chopping block because producer Dick Wolf promised to hold down costs. His solution was a salary freeze, meaning no raises this season as he steers the show into its new deal: the shows are being shown on USA Networks first, followed by a run on NBC.

Noth and D’Onofrio, sources say, will likely take the freezes in pay and stick it out. “They make $350,000 each an episode, which comes to $3,850,000 a year," a source said. "Not bad.”

The actors also each appear in only 11 episodes, and the work schedule is a total of 88 days a year.

Wow - I bet that's more than BK got for Laverne & Shirley

Well, it appears that someone has stolen my idea and went to the trouble of actually writing a book called Broadway Babylon.

Well, it had better be good and trashy, that's all I'll say.

It's Boze Hadleigh!  "Trashy" it will be.

As for the Topic of the Day...

Hmm...

The only Richard Burton performance that sticks in my mind is from "Equus".  :-\

As for Elizabeth Taylor... Nothing sticks. For now at least.

Have you NEVER seen "A Place in the Sun"?  If you had, how could you forget

Angela (Taylor): I love you, too. It scares me. But it is a wonderful feeling.
George (Clift): It's wonderful when you're here. I can hold you. I can, I can see you. I can hold you next to me. But what's it gonna be like next week? All summer long? I'll still be just as much in love with you. You'll be gone.
Angela: But I'll be at the lake. You'll come up and see me. Oh, it's so beautiful there. You must come. I know my parents will be a problem, but you can come on the weekends when the kids from school are up there. You don't have to work weekends. That's the best time. If you don't come, I'll drive down here to see you. I'll pick you up outside the factory. You'll be my pickup. Oh, we'll arrange it somehow, whatever way we can. We'll have such wonderful times together, just the two of us.
George: I am the happiest person in the world.
Angela: The second happiest.
George (filled with guilt and repression, confides): Oh, Angela, if I could only tell you how much I love you, if I could only tell you all.
Angela (comforting him with a breath-taking, intimate reply, while pulling him closer to her): Tell mama, tell mama all.

I highly doubt that Karl Rove has anything to do with Godspell!   ;)

Although conspiracy theorists might disagree.

Oh, he enjoyed it, all right.

That's what he did after I told him that we wouldn't be dating any more.

TOD:

Elizabeth Taylor: FATHER OF THE BRIDE

Richard Burton: Nothing comes to mind.

Have you ever seen a Richard Burton movie?

Oh, I have seen Richard Burton movies, but have no favorite performances to list for the TOD. He never made any kind of impression on me...he ain't no Ken Clark, that is for sure.

To the tune of the Rolling Stones' "Sympathy for the Devil"

Hmmmm....I thinking more along the lines of BS&T's "Lucretia McEvil"....or, better still, ELPs' "Karn Evil No. 9"...all 3 impressions.

You can keep the bagel toaster, but no toaster ovens are allowed.

Censors Asleep at the Wheel?

Last week's court ruling that the FCC could not bar the use of "fleeting expletives" during live telecasts may have resulted in a more relaxed atmosphere in the control booth during Sunday night's CBS coverage of the Tony Awards. The upshot was that when actor John Mahoney departed from the script and used the profanity "goddamn," it went out over the air, despite a five-second time delay. It was followed by a second or two of dead air, "as though someone were slow on the button," as Broadcasting & Cable observed on its website. The offending word was later removed from the West Coast feed. "It was an unwelcomed adlib," a CBS spokeswoman told the trade publication.

So glad we were able to spare the sensibilities of the west-coasters.

Hi, my name is Mz Karen and I used to be a HHW gratuitous poster many, many postings ago...You thought you were rid of me, but I'm BAAA-CKKK! And I expect, no, make that demand, a flurry of frenzied postings welcoming me back -- postings like "Mz Karen, my darling, youhave been missed terribly"  "Things were never the same once you left us"  "Don't you ever pull that stunt again" etc., etc.

Things were never the same once you left us.

Saner, but not the same.

The FCC is an "east coast" organization.  As most everyone else WELL knows, we "west coasters" don't give a damn!
