I had a very enjoyable afternoon of entertainment.
I began with LUCY/MAME. The film has never looked as good on home video. Very sharp (except for you-know-who's close-ups), good color with the right level of saturation.
Yes, I knew we'd get the same mono sound, just like in theaters. Seems like I read somewhere that the stereo tracks were destroyed. Still, the sound is strong, and I enjoyed seeing the film again, especially looking so good.
And I still say Robert Preston's "Lovin' You" is about three or four minutes of musical comedy joy. Beautiful song, excellent vocal, well shot and edited to get the most out of the sequence. By far the best thing in the movie.
