Had a nice dinner with Jerry Hoffman, whom I haven't seen in ages - as some of you know, Jerry played a rather infamous role in The First Nudie Musical.

I began tonight's viewing with BAGDAD CAFE, a film I had never seen before but had recommended to me by several people. It was a terrific, almost magical feel-good movie. Sharing something like the whimsy of CHOCOLAT but set in the California desert, it was funny, dramatic, life affirming, and joyous.

Well, I'm off.  I think I'll get a DVD and go to my sister's house and watch it on her widescreen HD TV...or maybe it's just a widescreen TV.  I don't know.  Either way, my sister and my niece aren't home and I have their key! ;) I'll have to pop home first to see what I want to watch.

Next, I watched another episode of MOONLIGHTING. This one was set on a "murder train," a set up murder for the passengers to solve. Only the organizer of the game was killed before the game was begun. Another mystery I found easy to solve.

Guest stars included Rick Jason and Leonard Frey.

Orson Bean or not, tonight's THE CLOSER was excellent with lots of funny stuff and a dandy mystery. As usual, I loved it.

I conlcuded my evening with another episode of MOONLIGHTING, what turned out to be the last episode of the first season. In it, David and Maddie get drawn into a game of cat and mouse between a double agent and someone who claims to be with the CIA. Not much mystery in this one; just a breathless crime drama with more than the usual rapid-fire dialog.

We have no idea what they would cut out! I may watch it again just out of curiosity...

I watched the last 10 minutes and already caught one deleted scene - the one with Simple's corpse in the jail - they go from the phone call awaking Brenda right to Gabriel entering her office  the next day (40 secs cut).

I'm home from the Hamptons. Actually, I'm home from the "lovely" Golden Theatre on Broad Way. In any case, I'm pooped! I spent at least 3 1/2 hours in the ocean today and thoroughly wore myself out. I don't really know how I made it through the show tonight, but I did.

I haven't even washed the salt/sunscreen off yet, so I think I'm gonna go take a shower, have a big glass of ice water (or two) and hit the hay.

DR Jose: Glad you made it home OK. Please send my best to Steve.

Hail and thunderstorms in Iowa....headed this way.....

Take cover DR CILLA LIZ.

It missed me but hit at the lake where my parents are and hit my hometown.  My family didn't have any damage that I know of, a limb down and my brothers day sailer bounced up and down but didn't get thrown out of the lift.  They had sustained 70 mph winds. Yikes!

Big doggies love ice water in hot weather.....cold tongues cool their whole bodies, I think.  :P

Actually, the ice has nothing to do with it. Dogs' natural body cooling mechanism is evaporation from their tongues (they are not fortunate enough  to have sweaty arm pits) - which is why they pant so much when it's warm. Big bulky dogs like St. Bernards have a lot of mass to keep cool, so need to slober a lot!

Well, tomorrow is going to be good, but a bit scary.  If I don't decide to hire this one, I will call the other two who came to my office and asked me to hire them...weird business when people walk into your office and say "Hi I want to work for you" and if they don't work I will advertise.  Anyway, I give them credit for having the guts to walk in and ask, so ... This is scary because it will push the financial envelope, but necessary to get the work done and bring in more income.
Whew! Here I go....

Well, a big goodnight hug to you, DR JASON if you are still here.  I hope it was a fun day.  I've never gotten out to the Hamptons either, and would love to see the area sometime.

I just walked out into the back yard with Sugar, and the sky is a really interesting and almost eerie color right now....very much like a good MGM painted backdrop type sky!

Oh...the DVD I made plays on my computer but not on my DVD player....so I must do some more investigating.

JRand, It sounds to me like it did not "finalize," which is what it needs to do in order to be played on any other machine aside from that which created it.

You can tell when a dust storm is going to hit because the air is a funny color.

There's a paint color for you: dust storm.

One nice thing DR Laura..... if and when we do get some rain, I won't have to worry about you;  I'll know that you are just sitting outside in it and eating your pancakes!
