Yesterday, I went to the LAST matinee performance of
Young Frankenstein!! It was still very good! It was also a lot shorter. When I saw it the first time (August 14th), there was a scene near the end of the first act where the villagers
pretend to welcome Doctor "Fronkensteen" to their village, and they present him with local Transylvanian cheese and soap. The doctor asks which is which and the local villager who presents them isn't sure. He takes a bite out of one (and he really did eat something), eats it, takes a moment and then eats the other stuff...and he really eats that too, but even after tasting both, he's not sure which is the soap and which is the cheese! It was a funny scene, but it was not in yesterday's performance...and I didn't miss it. I guess there were a lot of little nips and tucks here and there throughout the show. Overall, it flowed quite well and was about 20 shorter than when I saw it the first time. It was a good length.
