I'm gonna be out most of the morning...attending my agency's annual "Town Hall Meeting" (an opportunity for all the folks in my agency to gather in one location off-site and be treated to four hours of "what we do", "how we're doing it" and "what we need to do to make it better."

Light refreshments will be served.

On October 8 (Columbus Day), the staff throughout our entire library district is getting together (those who choose not to go must use vacation time) for our annual All Staff Training Day.  We'll have speakers and break-out sessions and food.  I was planning on not going (for various reasons) but I've been asked to run the lap-top comptuer for the sound and slide-shows and other assorted and sundried stuff.  They need to know by today and I'm not sure that I want to do it.  I probably will, because I tend to agree to do things that I don't really want to do, but I don't have any reason NOT to do them other than I just don't want to...know what I mean?

LOL....DR JEANNE.

In other words, we are being encouraged to sit down and listen.  The time to talk will come later.

But JRand, if everyone does what they're encouraged to do and listen...who will they be listening to??

Break-out sessions?  For those allergic to the food?  Sounds rash!

Lunch ran the latest today it has ever run, so I had very little time to watch anything once I got home.

BROTHERS & SISTERS DVD set was NOT in the mail, much to my displeasure.

I wasn't in the mood to open anything from the to-watch shelf, so I just took old reliable DR. NO off the shelf. I had never listened to the new Dolby DIgital 5.1 soundtrack on the set (I listened to the new DTS 5.1 the first time I played the DVD), so that's what I was doing for most of the little bit of afternoon I had left.

The DD 5.1 track is louder than the DTS, but the DTS is a bit more active in the surround channels, I think.

There's a commentary track on here, too, and I may switch over to it for the last half of the film that I'll finish tonight.

Then I scanned through today's AS THE WORLD TURNS. Again, the gay storyline was MIA, but it was featured in the previews for tomorrow's show.

Since I got in so little time for viewing this afternoon, I'm going to jump off-line earlier than usual so I can read another chapter in THE DEATHLY HALLOWS and then get back to viewing.

I cleaned the bedroom areas this morning, so that chore is behind me.

Back from playing RH services for the little Vancouver, Wa congregation.  They announced they have been given a no-strings-attached bequest to build a new synagogue.  Nothing much, really--just 6 million dollars!!

Me:  She wants to talk to you.

L O N G   P A U S E

Him:  Who is it?

I am trying to get Willie to get rid of that pause that kills the laugh.  But trying to convince him that the reaction to "Who is it?" is funnier than the wait for his line has become very difficult.

But I won't give up!  Comedy is a science.

Where is the director?  What his take on the pause?

Whew!  I'm really tired.  Finished singing for the day at Temple.  Now I have to gird my loins for the church choir rehearsal I'm heading into.

All that talk last night about trash cans reminds me about Lily Tomlin's old routine about trash cans.

You buy a trash can at a store.  They put it in a bag and you bring it home.
Then you take it out of the bag.  Then you crumple up the bag and put it in the trash can.
