DR Matt H., ***CONGRATULATIONS*** on your new arrival.

[almost a Fiddler reference]

Thanks a lot, DR Singdaw! I have really enjoyed "test driving" it tonight. A more vigorous workout will definitely be upcoming.

Pumpkin story is sad....and mysterious.

That's very sad. :(

Pumpkin story is sad....and mysterious.
Not much mystery now.

Pumpkin's father is in the USA
Pumpkin's mother was in the trunk of the car at their home.
Pumpkin has an older sister who left 7 years ago.
Pumpkin's Grandmother is coming from China to collect her.
(At least Pumpkin knows her.  The Sister is also willing to take Pumpkin)

Very sad.

Thank you, DR JRand. And I have to say that I couldn't be more pleased. Yes, it's going to take some time to get adjusted to the new set doing things differently from the old one. I'm going to have to spend some time reteaching my universal remote to understand keystrokes that the dedicated remote already knows. And there is still some calibration to come. I haven't even thought about the settings for the laserdisc machine and may not get to that for weeks.

More about tonight's viewing on the enw TV later.

So, what are you doing with your old TV?

Yes, MattH, congratulations on the new bundle of joy!

I felt QUITE joyful quite a few times tonight as I fed the set various test discs. More about them in a minute.

I caught a delightful musical comedy entertainment tonight called The Brian From Planet X.  I don't know if you've heard of it, but it was filled with delights: driving and infectious melodies, rendered in brilliant orchestrations by a very fine band.  And the performances of two young man were particularly captivating: No, I don't mean the ones in the skimpy trunks.  Cason Murphy and Benjamin Clark had all sorts of funny takes, and appealing voices.  I also liked the pre-zap parents, and the business of the flopping rag-doll of a girl was priceless.  Very glad I went.

Of course I hope DR Ron does not read the Pumpkin story or posts.  None of us knows her so it is of no interest. Just part of life.

So, what are you doing with your old TV?

When my cable service was interrupted last week, the cable repairman came inside after he finished his work outside just to make sure the signal was working. He saw the old set and saw the picture when it came up, and was very impressed. I mentioned to him that I was on the verge of buying a new one and he offered to buy mine then and there when I was ready. He gave me his home and cell phone numbers, and now it's just a matter of calling him once I'm sure my new set is burned in and not going to die after a week or use.

Close but not quite. See previous message.

And thanks DRs Vixmom, Cillaliz, and DakottaCelt for the good wishes. New toys like this certainly do bring out the kid in me!   ;D

Ditto.  But it hadn't registered until other DRs recalled it for me.
