Thanks, JMK.

This is even more fun than my own birthday, since I get to celebrate without having to feel a year older.  :)

Maybe one of the Mad-o-philes here can help me with this memory-buster (this one does not include a music quote):  Probably sometime between, say, 1969-1972 I got a hardback compilation of Mad that I thought was called "Completely Mad."  It was a large format hardback book with several glossy color inserts (i.e., the original Mad comics, lots of the back cover ad parodies reproduced, etc.), and I think it even had a couple of the original cardboard Mad "45"'s.  I have scoured eBay and other used book sources and can't find it--did anyone else have it, and if so what was it called?

I'm sure that if bk asked Mr. Grant Geissman, he would know the answer instantly!

Matt and Edi and Jeanne and Ginny - Skip says thanks for the birthday wishes, which I've been reading to him as they've been popping up.
Well, give ole Skip a Happy Birthday from me, too.

CD:
The soundtrack to the Tollywood movie BHEEMAA

It's spelled Bimah, Mike.  (Little joke for us tribe members).

My sister started counting backwards once she hit 60 (she is so much older than I am, LOL).  In another few years, I will be older than she.   ;D

TOD:

CD(car) - this being the day before the big Michigan/Ohio State game, I played The University of Michigan Marching Band's Saturday Tradition over and over again today.  Antidote to all the OSU music I'll have to hear downstairs later.

DVD - Ratatouille, Unconditional Love, and Small Miracles.  Would DR Elmore like to watch any of those with us while eating pizza and drinking beer?

Yes.  Except that your Bimah only has costumes and dancing and musical numbers on Purim.  ;)

Hebrew-wood musicals?

The Purim musical would no doubt have an Aquatic ballet with Esther

CD reissue department:  maybe someone else has posted, or perhaps this is of absolutely no interest to anyone other than me  :P, but there are new 2-fers out of both The Brass Ring and 5th Dimension.  Buddah released the first several 5D Lps as single CDs with bonus tracks several years ago, but they stopped at around "Portrait," leaving off at least two classic (IMHO) albums, "Love's Lines" and "Individually and Collectively," both of which are included in this latest batch (as are some of the later releases).  To my knowledge, The Brass Ring has never been released before on CD.

Maybe Jewish musicals could be called Cholly-wood?

Or Challah-wood?

TOD:  CD:  lots of great Brasilian stuff by vintage 50s and 60s Brasilian groups.
DVD:  alternating between Movies 101, which I'm reviewing (and it's a wonderful boxed set, almost revives my faith in AMC--I said almost) and Ace in the Hole, which I had yet to get around to.

Mad:  I have that older set of CD-ROMs with every issue up to whenever it was released.

I don't know about a paperback, but at that time there was a book entitled The Ridiculously Expensive Mad, which sounds like what you're describing.  It is a VERY rare book now - and very hard to find with all its inserts and records complete.  I have a Gaines file copy that is obviously never been opened and will remain that way - it's probably one of a kind now - and I have another copy with all its inserts and everything save for one introductory piece of paper.

I, too, have the earlier version of the MAD CD-Rom.  At one point a few years ago before the bad business, when I had to get rid of a lot of stuff, I had excellent copies of every issue of MAD through about 220.

A very happy haineshisway.com birthday wish to one of our favorite and most talented people - SKIP.  It would have been in the notes, but if it's not on the calendar, I'm too senile to remember anything.

I picked up one of the Brass Ring two-fers - I didn't care for it that much, as the arrangements were nowhere near as good as the Alpert albums or the Baja Marimbas.  Sound was very good, though.

DR George, I received a little something in the mail from you. Thanks so much. That should keep me occupied  and out of trouble!

Oh, Edisaurus received LEGALLY BLONDE, too. How nice.
That DR GEORGE is such a good fellow.   ;)
