As for the Topic of the Day...

Well, if Music Books count - My complete Henle hardcover edition library that I splurged on while I was in college.  They were offering a special deal on the whole series - at least the piano works - and I took it.  It was set up as a sort of subscription.  You received three to five books every couple of weeks.  This way you did not have to drop a whole chunk of change at once.

Well, if we can count music...I have a copy of THIS!  Except that my set is #1000 of 1000 and this set available on eBay is #1002!! :o I had never found anything that said there were any more than the original 1000 copies.  Anyway, my set is complete and was NOT marked at all by the library where it was sent.  The outside is in pretty good condition but the contents are very fine.  No wear or marks. :D

When Antiques Roadshow came to Portland a few years ago, we had our first HHW gathering at the house of JMK and DW Betsy!  I came after the show taping (I was only seen in the background) and Jane (with DH Keith) and MBarnum came to Portland and we feasted!

I hope it didn't give you the vapors, DR Singdaw.

And Mr. Seipke lives down in Florida now, just as short drive from you...if you go fast.

And if you ever wondered how the musical numbers in Bollywood war films would go...well, this gives you a nice idea...and I do detect a little bit of homoeroticism and phallic symbolism in this number!

I'll be that JAB WE MET has now opened in NYC, DR Jose!
And here is the trailer to wet your appetite (and I do believe the leading man in this one is one of TD's favorites!)

You are correct, sir!
Now, if only there were a slew of Bollywood movie playing theaters in my neck of the woods!
Perhaps, DR MBarnum, you and I will have to team up and go to Mumbai and get some interviewing done with some of our mutual favorites!

None lately.  They've stopped bothering me this month. I believe the whores are all out playing tennis or doing good deeds around their neighborhoods.  Anything to make ends meet.

When you met DR MBarnum, your eyes lit up like a pinball machineon "tilt!" I noticed no ticks; you were too busy with the Russian hands and Roman fingers.

DR DerBrucer, I am sorry to hear about the chaos surrounding you at the present.  I get the impression that no matter what good advice you give, it will be ignored, so I'd try to be the calm center and let the events play out around you.  In families and deaths, it's always messy, I've come to believe, and your situation seems fraught.  I wish you the best.

What?  Not even a brief pause to run his eyes up and down MBarnum like searchlights?

Then there's the female teacher in the Sudan who is going to be whipped because she allowed her students to name a teddy bear Mohammed... you woulda thought the kids would've known better even if she didn't..

and that the parents could have just gone to her and say, hey, you've got to change the name as its impolite...instead of reporting her to the authorities...

But when religion is the law of the land...

Kids know better? - it was their idea!!!!

REUTERS

Quote
A 7-year-old Sudanese student on Tuesday defended the British teacher accused of insulting Islam saying he had chosen to call a teddy bear Mohammad because it was his own name.

Gillian Gibbons, a 54-year-old teacher at the Unity High School in Khartoum, was arrested on Sunday after complaints from parents that she had insulted Islam's Prophet by allowing the bear to be named Mohammad. She is facing a third night in jail without being formally charged.

"The teacher asked me what I wanted to call the teddy," the boy said shyly, his voice barely rising above a whisper. "I said Mohammad. I named it after my name," he added.

Sitting in his garden wearing shorts, his family, who did not want their full names used, urged him to describe what had happened.

He said he was not thinking of Islam's Prophet when asked to suggest a name, adding most of the class agreed with his choice.

I'm absolutely delighted to read that info about LIFE though the news reports said it played opposite CSI: MIAMI which, of course, it doesn't (until this coming Monday anyway). It's CSI: NY that it is in competition with.

And the 9 episode pick-up won't mean much if the writers' strike continues, but I continue to have hope that all of this will get resolved and the season can continue.

The mane event: Brendan Fraser's hair makes a surprise comeback

Last updated at 12:08pm on 27th November 2007

He's famous for battling mythic Egyptian mummies on the big screen, but in real life Brendan Fraser has been fighting a different kind of curse - male pattern baldness.

The 38-year-old actor appears to have gone to rather extraordinary lengths to regain his once full head of tousled brown hair.

Gots lots of things viewed and cleared off the DVR. I began with the BONES repeat from last night. Repeat is right since it came from Season 1. It was a really good episode about pirates and treasure (loved the enthusiasm of the guys once they figured out it involved buccaneers).

Even though I have season 1 on DVD, I watched this since it was in HD.

Next, I watched last night's CSI: MIAMI. I didn't get the murderer's identity right, but I still enjoyed the episode. William Moses was a guest star.

Next came Sunday night's DEXTER. What a nail-biter! Three episodes left in the season, and I can't imagine where they're going to go with it.
