I didn't think there was any acting in Madonna's voice on the EVITA soundtr, either.  As to their ages, weare taling about London of the 1830s or 40s when I doubt the average lower-class life span was no more than 45 or 50!

True...but we're also talking about Sondheim's music. ;)

It's rather cold here tonight in the house of Linton. Glad we're escaping to warmer climes tomorrow.

With all those kitties huddled around you should be warm as can be!!!

I used to love visiting friends in Naples, Italy...those with cats, who also had kerosene heaters.  The cats would get their little behinds as close to those heaters as they could.

When I would walk into a room the kitties would walk over to me for a schmooze....and they would be  scalding hot to the touch.

My cats did that, too, but they never seemed to get "as hot" as did the kitties belonging to my other friends.

At least the cats were willing to share their kerosene heaters with your friends.   ;)

I must get der Brucer to break away from the television.  I didn't have a clue as to what I'd be making for dinner tonight when I left the store, and now need to head back for ingredients.

As to SWEENEY ages, isn't Johnny Depp four or five years older than Len Cariou was when he played the role?

Cariou was 40 when he opened in "Sweeney Todd" in 1979.  Depp is 44.

The cats would get their little behinds as close to those heaters as they could.

They all loved to curl up next to the gas space heater at the old house. Now that they have central heating, they have discovered that lying on top of a heating vent has the same effect. But it gets so hot I don't know how they stand it!

Well, I can understand if Sondheim were unhappy with how they're acting his material but the "young" voices is a whole different matter.  He just let Patti Lupone run roughshod over the score to GYPSY, and it's coming back!

Hmm...interesting, but irrelevant.  Cariou had years of theatrical singing experience and (one assumes) vocal training and Depp has had none of either, by his own admission.  For me, it's the quality of his voice that I find totally lacking and to a certain extent, disappointing. :-\

Sort of appropriate for DakotaCelt today.

Wink sang "Blackland Farmer".

Well, I'm waiting to judge how it all works in the film.  I've ordered the soundtrack, but I've already seen the definitive SWEENEY TODD on stage several times. When I want to listen to the score I'll return to the original Broadway cast recording, both for the amaziing cast and the full score.  The film's a whole different megilah and I hope that I will want to see it many times.

Deepest sympathy from me and Joe.

Tomovoz:

Please convey the sympathies of the rest of us hainsey/kimlets to Allan.  I am one of the few (?) who do remember Allan, but once in the family, always in the family.

Thank you.  Shall be done.

Absolutely!  A lot of things get pre-judged before anyone acutally sees them.  We won't truly know the tale of the movie musical of "Sweeney Todd" until we've experienced it.

The woman needs a better mindset.  Who would want to do that to themself intentionally?

I doubt it is intentional.  When work is a success everyone comments on how good the person looks.

DR Ron Pulliam, the DVD of LIFE arrived today.  Thank you so much.

This afternoon, I had a wonderful phone call from London.  Miss Kim Criswell invited me to an engagement party on Fifth Avenue and 72nd Street on Dec. 14.  The party throwers apartment is the entire 14th floor of the building. I wonder if I'll need a blood test?

This sounds very exciting :)  It will be fun to read the details.

Not to mention her gigs with the Philharmonic where she delivered the best mumbled "Worst Pies in London" I've ever had the pleasure of trying to decipher.

Seems Stephen is quite happy - in the TV promos they are using clips of him praising how well the film fits the score .
