I got several things watched this afternoon. I began with last night's MONK.

DR Elmore was right; a very poor episode. So many plot holes in the scenario I was shouting at the screen through much of the show. Incredibly lame "mystery" as well which doubly disappointed me.

The only fun moment was when Monk went on TV to defend his actions and mentioned that there was no Santa Claus. Randy Disher's face just registered such a crushing disappointment that I did laugh, especially when his boss said, "You did already know that, didn't you?"

At least they didn't yell at me this time for making some suggestions regarding improving our worship service.

Of course, I shan't ever again make suggestions regarding how to improve our worship service.

What happened, Laura?

I'm sure my commie pinko leanings will return unabated tomorrow.

As soon as the check clears :D

I'm thinking about making some sort of cookies from scratch. I'll have to see what I have in the pantry...

I've been in the mood for chocolate chip.

Next I watched WOMEN'S MURDER CLUB, also from last night. A good episode with a female impersonator murdered and a good selection of possible suspects. Also more relationships hitting dark waters last night. And I'm not sure the newly wedded couple is in for a rosy time either.

Today I am a Republican Department:  we got our "kicker" check today.  The Oregon constitution requires excess tax revenue to be refunded, pro rata, to citizens.  I was expecting a couple hundred and was pleasantly surprised to see almost one thousand.  I'm sure my commie pinko leanings will return unabated tomorrow.

Wow! What a nice surprise! I'd sure like to see $1k come out of nowhere!

If you ladies would learn to keep snakes in the house, the mouse problem would go away!

der Brucer

;D Yes, but then we'd have a snake problem!

I did get three review copies in the mail today: the standard DVDs of HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2, LOST - Season 3, and DIRT - Season 1.

I started with HIGH SCHOOL MUSICAL 2  since I watched the Blu-ray version a few days ago. How disappointing that the Blu-ray presented the widescreen version of the TV-movie, but the sDVD has only the full frame (TV format) version. It looks much better in widescreen. Of course, the sDVD is also less sharp and the audio is more front oriented than the PCM 5.1 track on the Blu-ray was.

*And if DRs elmore, Ben, FJL, etc., etc., would like to gather somewhere later on to raise a glass or two to our very own BK... Well... That's an option.  -Just as long as wherever we meet is near the Reservoir.  ;)

But what about the pastries and chocolate???

Birthday memory #1:

My 24th, soon after I'd met Richard (who wouldn't be my DH until just after my 30th).  He brought me a birthday pizza, complete with candles.  He stood in the hallway outside my apartment and sang "Happy Birthday."

Born on my birthday:

Tony Bill, Kobe Bryant, Gene Kelly, Barbara Eden, Roger Greenaway, Edgar Lee Masters, Jay Mohr, Rivr Phoenix, Rick Springfield (a year older) and on my actual birthdate - Alan Tam (depending on your source) the Hong Kong and Cantopop star.

Rivr?  How quickly we forget.

Birthday memory #2:

My 25th, the evening of which was one of the first rehearsals for the acclaimed DR Elmore-directed local production of You're a Good Man, Charlie Brown.  After the formalities, DR Elmore said, "Now, I want Ginny to come up here and sit beside me."  I thought, "Boy, I'm in trouble!"  The company proceeded to sing "Happy Birthday," and present me with a cake and a Snoopy autograph hound that they'd all signed.  I still have it (the autographed Snoopy, not the cake  :))

and then promptly closed.

It was not, what they call, a hit.

Sounds like it took a hit!

My friend Susie had a Snoopy autograph hound, somehow I ended up with a stuffed grapefruit with arms and legs and a face

It was warm enough today to turn off the heat and open doors and windows. It should be this way for at least three more days. What an amazing fall we've had.
