AP
Proposed Ban Could Put Carriages Out to Pasture
Horse-drawn carriages rides, long a romantic symbol of New York City's Central Park, could soon end.

ASSOCIATED PRESS

Quote
The horse-drawn carriages that clip clop around Central Park could be banned under City Council legislation to be introduced at the urging of animal advocates who say the horses are treated inhumanely.

Democratic Bayside Councilman Tony Avella, who plans to introduce the bill next Wednesday, said the horses that have entertained tourists and New Yorkers for decades are exposed to cruel conditions and are at risk of injury or death as they weave through city traffic.

The Horse & Carriage Association of New York issued a scathing statement in response to the proposal, stating that the city's carriage horses are in excellent health and Avella "is the one who should be put out to pasture."

I watched an animated version of Grandma Got Run Over By A Reindeer.  It was all a scam and Grandma was just fine.  She had been slipped some reindeer nip, so when she opened the box the reindeer didn't know what they were doing.  It was pretty lame, but they managed a happy ending

What is the record number of posts?

BK said earlier today that the record was 759.
