Is the Village usually decorated extra pretty?  That is how I imagine it.  Did you see the Christmas trees for sale?

Yes and No.  And maybe I was not looking in the right places, walking down the right streets.  However, there were a couple of tree lots set up, and those are always pretty.

OH!

Today's New York City moment is brought to you by the "preacher" who was on the platform of the Columbus Circle Station earlier tonight:

God created Man
God created Woman
Man and Woman were created Equal
But God did not make them the Same
Man and Woman are not the Same
I am a Man
And if I tried to have a Baby
I would Die!

DR Jose - we just watched an HGTV program about holiday window displays, including the Snowpeople windows at Saks.  Thanks for all the pictures!

Ginny - What fascinated me about their job doing those windows is that they work all year and it all boils down to a reveal of about one minute or less; I think that's kind-of the way one of them described it, but I'm paraphrasing.

The Macy's guy doing research by hard work going on roller coasters was loads of fun, though.

I began the evening watching all of the special features on the HEARTBREAK KID DVD. Most of the stuff isn't very interesting, but it does give them a long list of stuff to add to the liner notes on the DVD box. There are four deleted scenes and two extended scenes, and the extensions to those two scenes would have been better off in the movie. I thought both added important information to the understanding of characters.

I'm watching The Two Jakes.

I have a review copy (passed on to me from another) of that I won't be getting to for some time. There are at least two other films in the queue ahead of it, and I suspect I'll be getting the Blu-ray of UNDERDOG tomorrow which will also take precident.

What time does it get dark there these days?  Craig was headed out to take Yogi for a walk before it got dark, I suspect he ended up walking in the dark.  At least he has street lights.

It's usually dark now by five-fifteen/five-thirty.
Much needed are windshield wipers in this weather, between the salt, the snow, the ice, the rain and the splashes from the other vehicles on the road.
I bought a couple of bottles of an ice-melting spray for car windows, I never leave home without a bottle.

I listened to about half of the audio commentary by the Farrelly Brothers. They seem like nice, down-to-earth guys, but their sense of humor is not my sense of humor.

I had over two hours before the start of the TV shows I was going to watch, so I put on HARRY POTTER AND THE GOBLET OF FIRE. It looked very nice and the PCM sound is great, but I didn't find it a revelatory step-up from the sDVD I already had. Probably because so much of it is dark, misty, gloomy. HD can't provide much dimensionality when the image is shrouded in gloom.

The final episode of EXTRAS was an 80-minute special that was very bittersweet. There were some hilarious moments (Andy's interview with Maggie messing things up), but much of it was rather sour and mournful.

And the season finale of DEXTER certainly had me on the edge of my seat. For a moment, I was a tiny bit dissatisfied with the apparent way the season was ending, but then I got a nice surprise and everything was right with the world.

Fosca has indeed now joined Dan Fogelberg.

Thanks DRs.

Somehow "Leader Of the Band" and "Run for the Roses" will now be linked with Magnus's Sister.

I'm very sorry to hear this, Tomovoz. :'(

RE: SWEENEY TODD. I am very much looking forward to it. But i loved HAIRSPRAY (as did a lot of people).  I know everybody has their own opinions. But BK sometimes i find you are very harsh on things that are not bad at all.  You said you wanted ST to be better and you dismissed HAIRSPRAY the movie like it was crap (when there are some really crappy movies out there).

Regardless i'm sure ST will be a totally different type of movie.
