:o

elmore, when will you know if they are bug free ???

Most likely never.  I dn't think this problem will ever be over, only under control of some sort.  I keep saying the problem's from the building, but perhaps I brought them in on my bag from settng it down somewhere or from an item I bought second-hand.  There are too many possibilities and I feel all one can do is try to be as cautious and preventative as possible.

I am typing this from Toyland as I listen on my iTunes to selections from "Babes In Toyland."  I had to get it out of the mess because it's hard to accomplish any work in the apartment beyond dealing with the mess.  My colleague Curtis came in and helped me with the set-up and the new server, but now my email's a mess.

Happy Birthday, DR Charles Pogue!

Happiest of birthdays to DR Charles Pogue!  How 'bout some Graeter's ice cream and something from Busken Bakery?

No Graeter's or Busken down here in Georgetown, Ginny, but since The Lovely Wife is in the throes of rehearsal, I'm seriously thinking of going over to the local Gold Star in the Wal-Mart Center here and having for my birthday dinner two cheese coneys (mustard and onions) and a four-way with onions!

I'm writing away.  Took a little break and worked at the piano and will now try to do one or two more pages before singers arrive.

Winky dink? I never heard of it. So much for my cultural literacy.

I would think that Winky would be a cute nickname.

Some of my fondest memories of childhood were drawing on the TV screen for WINKY DINK. A wonderful show for kids. I even got my parents to spring for teh deluxe drawing edition of WINKY DINK.

No way we ever got anywhere close to 50 degrees today. It was bitter cold when I went on my errands, and the suns has never made an appearance. There have been heavy clouds in the sky all day. So, I was happy to stay inside today.

On the other hand, you've effectively dissuaded any HHW DR from dropping in unexpected and unannounced hoping to crash on your fire escape for a few days!

I began my afternoon viewing by rewatching the first hour of THUNDERBALL while I cooked and ate lunch. I was watching the Ultimate Edition remaster. It's clean as a whistle and the DTS sound is wonderful, but the color just isn't vibrant enough. I remember the Technicolor on this in the theater being very rich. This looks very nice, very contained, but just a bit on the drab side. I think the remaster on DR. NO has a richer look than the remaster on THUNDERBALL.

TTFN.

"to-do" in the sense that there was a lot of to-do going on?

Or simply a "to-do" checklist of things to accomplish?

I like the idea of the former (or I wouldn't have gratuitously posted, obviously).

In fact, I think there ought to be more to-do among our ken.

An HHW Kerfuffle, as it were!

The Criterion discs finally arrived today (how ironic they arrived once I finally finished with HAWAII FIVE-O just this morning).

So, this afternoon, I watched THIS SPORTING LIFE. The film is brilliant in almost every respect. The flashback motif back and forth gives it a dynamism and urgency that's really engrossing (as if it could be anything else with those galvanizing central performances!).

Amazing that the director had never directed a feature film before, the producer had never produced a feature film before, and the screenwriter had never written a screenplay before, and they turned out this triumph!

Then I began listening to the commentary track which edits in comments from screenwriter David Storey with the main narrator. Interesting stuff, but I've only listened to about 30 minutes of it.
