I just had a phone call from the wonderful Helen Stenborg, who at 83 is staying busy: she's just done a commercial, she's got that short scene in ENCHANTED, and she just finished a play with Timothy Busfield of THIRTYSOMETHING.  I adore this lady. I loved her husband Barney, too. Lovely folk.

Well, Hillary Clinton has been caught in a lie about sniper fire.  History is always better as we want it to be.

No worries.  I just never really thought I'd be done so early today, so I have a bit more free time this evening.  Not complaining.

Ifolk.

Well, Hillary Clinton has been caught in a lie about sniper fire.  History is always better as we want it to be.

Well, she is trying to change the subject:

Clinton: Rev. Wright ‘Would Not Have Been My Pastor’

Quote
Breaking her silence on the controversy surrounding Barack Obama’s long-time pastor, Hillary Clinton said Tuesday that she would have left the congregation if her pastor behaved like Obama’s.

And a lot of American women would have left their marriage if their husbands had behaved like Bill.

I would never leave my congregation because of a pastor. I have known most of the folks for over twenty years. Pastors come and go.

I think however Bill decided to behave in his private sexual time, it was his business. It was probably no better and no worse than a great many of the married men I know, hetero- and homosexual.  I always suspected Hillary was fully aware of everything and didn't care until it became public.

Sorry, DR Matthew - That was the choral snob in me coming out and trying to make a joke.  I've just always associated that beautiful piece of music with male voices - even though it was originally scored for a mixed chorus.  You weren't missing anything since there was nothing to miss.

And would have been in violation of her marriage vows to God had she done so.

Well, when one of my pastors opted to preech a hatful sermon against my government and the was in which I was engaged, I felt I had two choices:

A. Take my check book and leave the parish for good.
B. March right up to the front and argue right back!

I preferred B, the wife urged A.

Ah yes, I understand now :)   Sarcasm detected and sarcasm granted :)

We did a movement of the Faure Requiem for Palm/Passion Sunday (the first movement to be exact) and it was an SAB arrangement.  It was quite lovely and it worked well with that voicing (with the organ picking up a lot of the harmonies).  We'll probably do more next year.  I may just arrange the Cantique myself, along with a few Rutter choral pieces we love but just don't have the forces to do the originally arrangements.

That's a pretty strong tie to a congregation.  Do you think, though, Laura, that your congregation would tolerate a pastor who preached intolerance to them -- who told them to hate others -- whose very words espoused civil strife for change to his way of thinking?

I don't think they would.  Some pastors ARE their churches...they draw folks to them with their messages.

MEDIUM SPOILERS!!

I agree with DR Ron about this. Though the girls' college funds are important, they're in DIRE straits, and this could be their ticket out.  She should demonstrate the same faith in Joe that Joe has in her for so long.

I agree that Joe should be supported at this time in their lives.  Suze Orman has even said that people should plan for their own retirement BEFORE their kids' college because the kids can get grants or scholarships or go to a community college, etc.  This is a very similar situation.  They need the money NOW...and the kids seem like they would have NO trouble getting scholarships or grants.

SCHEDULED POSTINGS!!
