DR Singdaw, So you're not really too far from Manhattan then, huh? DR Jose, do you any how safe it is to be in the Harlem area in the evening...ya know, 2 ladies trying to running around town and such?
Hmm... "Safety" is sort of relative. At least to me. There have been a couple of times where if I'm coming back late from a gig or a night out, and the trains seem to be running on a skip-stop schedule, I'll just go ahead and keep walking up Broadway from 116th to 145th.
Just be sensible. I will say that West Harlem seems to be a bit safer than East Harlem, and since 125th Street is the main crosstown drag, it's always busy. If you do start to feel a bit uneasy, then just hail a cab - or one of the numerous gypsy cabs - and head back to midtown.
And speaking of midtown... Midtown also has it's share of safety issues - mainly pickpockets - so, again, just be be aware and sensible.
