Der Brucer and I have a favorite cheese shoppe in town.
Beautiful Foods (click for news article) has all sorts of wonderful 'stuffs that we don't sell at the supermarket, but it's the cheese selection that is the real highlight.
There was, for instance, the time that der B bought a magnificent bleu that was so creamy and tangy that it qualified as an aphrodesiac. Typically, his daughter detests bleus in any form, and when we took it with us as part of a cheese board before a Christmas dinner, she insisted that it not be in the same room as she. "I cannot
stand the smell!" she proclaimed. So we put it in the one room she never enters - the kitchen.
More recently, when I decided to try my hand at a risotto, it was der B who suggested that we get the appropriate Parmesan at B.F. I still haven't told him how much I paid for the wedge, but it has been aged two years and is worth every crumb.
This leaves us in real danger this summer, when we are trying to economize. Every Tuesday, the
Rehoboth Beach Farmer's Market convenes at a park in town. Rather than battle the traffic, we're choosing to park outside of town and walk in. Our route, of course, passes right by Beautiful Foods. Will we be tempted? Yes we will, every week!
Life is good.
