In the meantime, I made dinner: A Thai Green Curry with Chinese Eggplant, Baby Bok-choy, Snap Peas (which actually seem to be a bit "stringy"), Water Chestnuts and Bamboo Shoots (which also seem to be a bit fibrous??)... With some Brown Jasmine Rice.

Pretty tasty even with some of the "fibers".  ;)

Yes, I am sorry they don't do this on PBS any more. It really wouldn't bother me if the WHOLE shebang moved to a cable channel.

DR Jose, I am pretty sure we will be seeing the show with Ms. Parsons.  We are so excited about our trip.  I haven't said that yet, have I? :)  I do really hope that when we see Gypsy at a matinee that we don't get an understudy for Patti.  What is your thinking, do you think that may happen?

Because Patti's name is above the title, any of her scheduled absences have already been announced - or will be.  If she happens to call out, and her understudy Lenora Nemetz has to go on, then you could request a refund at the box office.  -And because a refund would be involved, there's a bit of pressure to stay in - even if she is slightly under the weather.

-or something like that.

Thank for all the warm welcomes, everybody!

When she did VELVITA, I don't believe Patti ever did matinees.  It seems to be that there was another alternate actress listed for all of the matinees.

I think that may have been because of the unique vocal demands of that part in that show.  A roadshow production I saw which came through Portland a few years ago followed the same alternate actress format.

...And I'm not sure it was such a good idea to give his theatrical itinerary for the week. ;)

I am having some stuttering with the broadcast (starting and stopping and audio dropouts), but at least it's there. I didn't have a powerful enough computer last year to be able to see anything.

Yes, Teri Klausner was her alternate.  And that was decided even before they opened.

Brooke Shields still looks young enough to play ingenues on the stage. I can't believe she played Ruth Sherwood.

...and then the "Alternate Tradition" was continued with The Phantom of the Opera when Patti Cohenour would play Christine.

The NY-1 interviewers seem a little bit ill at ease.  I'm sure it's not easy to do that job gracefully.

OH!  During the "commercial breaks" in the the Hall, they would show - on the monitors - various commercials from some classic shows (the original production of Grease (one featuring Sharon Stone!))... as well as come commercials for some upcoming Broadway shows: 9 to 5, Dirty Dancing.  :)

The interviewers are still MUCH more intelligent than what we see at the Oscars and Emmys.

I also don't envy them having to do that job in the current humidity.

DR singdaw - I don't mind that the Tony Awards are in RCMH.  I actually think it makes it easier for the camerawork/men having so much room to work with.  And I also do think it's a good thing - even with the "screaming fans" - opening up seats for more the general public to get a chance to see it in person.
