Movie columnists?

When I was a Hollywood publicist, folks like James Bacon, Hank Grant and Army Archerd were the absolute best.  They always found space in their columns for my items.  Dorothy Manners was also a nice lady.

On the other hand, Joyce Haber was a b***h.  Totally untrustworthy.  She even, on occasion, did J. Edgar Hoover's dirty work.

I read the Blind Items here.

http://www.crazydaysandnights.net/

Past:  Rona Barrett, of course.  Her autobiography was good.
I was going to say Joyce Haber until I read DR DRUXY's post.

Not many today....since it's mostly internet based.  I don't watch the Entertainment tv shows which are mostly used for promoting this movie or that.

I am not loving the new FIREFOX.....

I downloaded it at home this morning [being made aware of it by your post last night], but did not have time to play with it before leaving for work.

I, too, have downloaded it but like David (Scrimshaw) I have not yet played with it other than to discover that the latest version of Real Player (11) which has the cool download video feature does not work with Firefox 3. I don't know if it will work with F3 eventually but it doesn't work now. I still use IE so I can use the download video feature. We shall see.

I will see David on Sunday at the 3pm performance of Guys and Dolls starring (well, not really starring but we like to think so) our own TPUNK!!! It's in Riverdale (the oh so tony part of the Bronx) so it's quite a trek for us Manhattanites. I''ve got to find my passport and plan the trip. We will probably leave sometime Saturday afternoon to make sure we get there on time  ;)

I used to love to read Rex Reed.

There is a young man Marc something, who was with TV Guide, but who just moved over to Entertainment Weekly.  He is very enjoyable, although I can never figure out his blind items.

Actually, his name is Michael Ausiello. He's always got great information about TV shows and behind-the-scenes happenings with the stars. He begins at ENTERTAINMENT WEEKLY the first week of July.

DR George, i am very jealous about Shrek the musical and you getting to see Brian D'Arcy James.  You'll have to tell us all about it!

I'm curious have you seen any of the movies to be able to compare?

I think the only one i saw was shrek 2 (with my sister's niece and nephew). ANd i actually really like it!

I'm curious if this musical follows any of the movies stories.

Good morning!

It was cool enough last night that I cut off the A/C and left the attic fan running all night with windows open and fresh, cool air aplenty. A grand night of sleep.

Do you have any idea if he'll be doing the same type of column (as he did at tv guide?).  My sister is addicted to him.

I don't read him that often. But whenever i have i've enjoyed him a lot.

Just one of the problems.....I seem to have lost tabbed browsing as well....although maybe I need to click something.  Oh well.

Did anyone else read Rona Barrett's autobiography?  She had some scandalous personal tales to tell and didn't spare herself OR her friends in the writing....so you can imagine what the TRUTH was.

Her biggest scoop was probably that she broke the news that Elvis was marrying Priscilla before ANYONE else knew anything.

Rona Barrett was fine in print, but I never really cared for her on TV. There was something a little smug about her that turned me off.

I remember vividly Hedda Hopper appearing regularly on ART LINKLETTER'S HOUSE PARTY. Used to love her visits. I'll never forget after the 1964 Oscars (in 1965) that she had a FIT that Agnes Moorehead had lost to Lila Kedrova.

Anybody remember THE GOSSIP SHOW on the E! Channel? Used to be the one show I would tune in faithfully every week. Had a wonderful set of gossips from Rex Reed to Liz Smith, and they were good with blind items. I was really sorry when it went off the air.

I enjoyed SO YOU THINK YOU CAN DANCE last night.

But i guess i sort of agree with DR Jose. The choreography was not as great as it sometimes is.

The judges were very harsh. But they have their few favorites (will, katee and her partner joshua). They also love chelsea (the blonde one and her partner). And carrington and twitch.

I actually loved the choreography for courtney (the brunette cheerleader) and her partner.  And i think my favorite dance of the night was carrington (sp?).  I know mia was all over her about her smiling throughout the routine. But i thought she was just stunning.

There are quite a few i could not care less about.

The editor of EW introduced him and another new writer to their readers in last week's issue, but other than saying he'd be writing about TV, didn't give many details.

He hasn't been added to the EW website yet and hasn't been taken off of TV GUIDE's webside yet either.

Guess I'll start with MAD MEN today on Blu-ray disc. Since I watched the show only on SD AMC (my cable service doesn't have AMC-HD though I did see the first episodes for a few days show up on High Definition on Demand), seeing the production in high definition should be a treat.

This morning I went onto the patio, and this is what I saw:

A butterfly laying an egg:

Said egg:

A butterfly emerging from the chrysalis. See how the wings are still folded:

The wings have already straightened:

A journey to a star would not be very far
As long as I’m alone with you
Romantic as we are, a journey to a star
Could start before the dawn breaks through
You’re right beside my heart
We’re just about a kiss apart
And we could make a dream come true
A moment of your love would have the feeling of
A journey to a star with you.

UGH!

It's really quite simple.

Just don't look in a mirror until all the swelling has abated.

Lovely butterfly photos, DRLAURA.

At last after a few months, Mercury has turned direct, so auto, electronic, and communication problems should abate.

HOWEVER, I didn't read this anywhere, but after driving around town this morning - ALL traffic, pedestrian, bicycle, and walking animal rules have been suspended.  It is anything GOES for anybody....that's the only explanation for what I saw.

And I almost smashed a squirrel who ran out, stopped, reversed directions, and then decided to saunter on across Maple Lane.....stopping to look at me as I looked at him.

Good Morning!

I'm up, I'm up... And I did get up early today... And then I proceeded to take a two hour and a half "nap" shortly after waking up... ;)
