I watched another STREETS OF SAN FRANCISCO as my last viewing of the evening. A bunch of men hijack an armored truck carrying a shipment of gold mixed with uranium thinking the uranium will only be lethal for a couple of days before they can melt the gold down and recast it as coins.

Among the guest stars were Vic Morrow, Anthony Zerbe, Milt Kamen, and Herb Edelman.

This leaves me with only two more episodes to watch which I should be able to do tomorrow with no trouble.

There are no bonus materials in this set at all.

Finished watching Fanny.  May watch the TIVO of The Best Man, or just a couple of hour-long Hitchcock's I TIVOd.  Making a tiny bit of pasta for a snack - still happy from the pastrami sandwich earlier.

I have some playing to do on the computer for a bit before heading downstairs.

Good night!

Temp down to seventy-five.  Three more degrees and I'll be happy and shut it off for a while.

While pasta cooks I'm listening to a home-grown CD of Elmer Bernstein's nice score to Devil In A Blue Dress.

The next two months (is that right) see the marriage of Rodzinski and the arrivel of the Jed/Ann bundle of joy. (a Debbie Reynolds reference).

I hope someone is able to bring us updates:  TCB   MBarnum

I was supposed to call DR Rodzinski upon my return from Memphis, but I have yet to do that. Perhaps I will call him this weekend and see what is what.

Well... For some reason, I feel - felt? - the need to mail out some stuff tomorrow morning... And since I'm actually working tomorrow (before I head to the airport to fly to FLL), I realized that I could save myself a lot of time and stress by taking care of some of packaging and postage tonight - it's all going Priority Mail, so I could go ahead and buy the stamps tonight... And since the Penn Station Post Office is open 24 hours...  Well... At least I made it back right before the rain started... Hmm...

I spent a goodly part of the early evening thinking that either my eye sight was failing or my TV was going on the fritz.  I was watching TCM's broadcast of SHOW BOAT - I didn't know a print could get that faded; most of the Natchez basin seemed to be suffering a solar eclipse and the scenes in Chicago had everyone dressed in unattractive shades of drab and mustard and having skin tones suggesting need of a mortician's cosmetologist.

Come November, the fun might begin:

The CA State Supreme Court’s May 15 decision made same-sex marriage legal, effective Monday. Under the ruling, the California Department of Health, whose vital records office maintains marriage forms, did away with all terms identifying gender.

Instead of “bride” and “groom,” those tying the knot are now simply referred to as “Party A” and “Party B.”

Now, there is a voter initiative on the November ballot that undoes the court's decision and states that marriage is only between one man and one woman.

What about those who have already married, one might ask?

Of course, there is now no way to determine from official records which marriages are same sex and which are not!

The fact that this voter initiative from the sick people of CA made it onto the ballot, and the fact that they will now do their damndest to undo the court decision is disgusting.   One step forward, and then the fanatical will insure two steps back.

OK... I'm going to try to get a few hours sleep.  Tomorrow is going to be a long day.  Thankfully(?), the auditions I'm playing tomorrow are for the Gypsy kids, so I'll basically be playing "Extra! Extra! Read all about it..." on a loop for most of the day.  But, still, some sleep would be a good thing.  So...

Goodnight.

That's fine with me as long as we can have some others like:

So before  we  fly out there to tie the knot, we should legally change our names to Pat and Shane?   :)

There is an intesting wrinkle:

The, initiative, worded before the Court decsion, is a proposed Constituitonal amendment.

However, now that the court has ruled, it would seem the initiative proposes more than an amendment, but, in fact, proposes a constitutional revision.

The CA Constituiton CANNOT be revised by a voter initiative - it takes a constitutitonal convention!
