DR Jennifer - ouch!  Take care and remember RICE

Rest
Ice
Compression
Elevation

I did ice in the beginning. It seemed to help. But now it hurts when it is cold.

I did elevation. It seemed to help before. But now it hurts when i do that.

It is bruised. I must have either broken a blood vessel. Or i do not know what. I have seen bruising the next day. But never immediately. I was in shock!  But it's okay.

I was supposed to go to the grocery store about 10 minutes after it happened. My sister ending up coming over. And we were going to go with ny niece. But since i could not go. My niece took off her shoes and jacket and decided to stay.

My bathroom has 2 sinks. So we each had a footbath side by side. She called it taking a bath together!

Good Evening!

Greetings from LGA!  -And from the looks of it, a quite deserted LGA.

It took me less than a minute to check-in and pass my bag off to the TSA screeners, and even though there was only one security scanner operating, I was through there in a few minutes too. :)

*The gentleman who checked in right before me is heading to Utah tonight.  However, since he's flying on a Saturday night, he's getting to Utah by way of Baltimore... and Las Vegas.  His flight leaves here at 7:00pm, and he will eventually get into Salt Lake City at 2:20am!  Whew!

In any case...

While he was checking in, he asked the reservations agent, "Hey, can you get me there quicker?"  She replied, "No, not at this time on a Saturday."  He then semi-replied, "You're not even going to look?"  Well...

"Excuse me, Sir.  I have been working at this job for the past 15 years.  10 years at this airport.  I have been with US Airways that whole time.  I do my job very well, and I can tell you without a doubt that I do not have to look up anything to tell you whether or not I could get you there quicker or not.  Today is a Saturday, and it is now past 3:00p.m.  Consequently, we are no operating on a skeleton crew due to the traditionally low passenger traffic on this day of the week, at this time.  My name is Marcia M.  My badge number is ###, and if you wish to take this up with my supervisor, you are more than welcome to."

-Well, I was only asking if you could get me there faster.

"Sir, didn't you also say that I did not bother looking?"

-Well, yes.

"Well, then Mr. So-and-So(?), again, my name is Marcia M., and I take pride in my job, and I know my job."

-Well.. Well.. I was only...

There were a few more brief exchanges.  Frankly, I thought the reservations agent had semi-overreacted, but it sure was fun to observe the "conversation".  -And I could tell that Marcia M. would have continued further had I not been waiting to check my bag.  And when I did step up to the counter to check my bag...

"Can you believe him? Giving me sass about my job?!?!"

-I also just changed my seat assignment.  When I checked online last night, the plane seemed quite full - and I refuse to pay any extra fees for more legroom.  So I ended up in a middle seat, but at least I was in the sixth row.  Well, I just went to check to see if an aisle seat had opened up, and, lo and behold... "Well, the seat next to you is open?  Would you like to stay in Row 6?"  -Yes.  :)

*Alas, I think they'll be boarding this plane from back-to-front, so I'm hoping that people don't hog the overhead bins before I board.

-Oh, and that's a pet peeve of mine...

People who put their bags in an overhead bin towards the front of the plane when their seat is in the back.

-Although, the last few times I've flown, I have noticed the flight attendants asking, "Excuse me, where are you sitting?" ;)

And the word of the day is: CHOLER!
What do you get when Ms. Streisand decides it's time to get every hateful and hurtful thing she has always wanted to say off of her chest?

An album titled CHOLER Me Barbra!

Congratulations to Liz Callaway for her rave review in Variety for her concert version of "The Beat Goes On"!

I wish I could see her current show.  Well, more precisely, I wish she was doing this show back at the Metropolitan Room... Which is a much, much more reasonably priced venue.

*However, her recent "Between Flights" show did feature some selections from "The Beat Goes On".

Another BIG pet peeve!

As well as the people who bring on luggage-sized "carry-ons" because they don't want to be inconvenienced checking their bags.  And the airline employees who look the other way.

HA!

The Muzak system here is currently playing "Feelings".  I haven't heard that in ages.  In fact, I think the last time I heard, I was playing it.  And singing it too!

Yeah, the guy going to SLC will definitely have to cross this line of storms.

Rob and Mary Linda are going to Shakespeare in the Park in Cincinnati tonight.  Not great weather for that.

"Can you believe him? Giving me sass about my job?!?!"

Sounds like fodder for that short-lived television reality show - I foget what it was called - that followed passengers and employees on typical days through the US airport system.

A former college roommate, who I haven't really connected with since school, just tracked me down via Facebook.   That's kind of fun!
Singdaw finally has a stalker! Oh gosh almighty!

If he'd taken a walk around the resevoir, DR Jose could have filled that niche ages ago!

I share some of Singdaw's pet peeves, especially people throwing their cigarette butts out the window....Use your ashtrays, people. That's what they're there for!
But, if they use their ashtrays, their cars will smell like their mouths!

DR George - have you received something in the mail from me in the past week or so?  I'm kind of afraid I sent it to your old address.  I blame the drugs.

I want to make  some coffee.

I want to.

But I don't want to leave my bedroom.

Ever.

At least not until the fog returns to cool us all down.

I trust you want iced coffee?

Otherwise, your masochistic side is showing again.

They're called "Daytime Running Lights," and most newer cars have them.  They've been proven to reduce accidents, and if your car has them, you'll probably get a discount on your car insurance.  You DO have the option of turning off the feature, if you wish, but the default is that they turn on automatically when you start the car.  They're actually separate bulbs from [or in addition to] your regular headlights.

Doesn't explain the older cars, of which there were many.  I should think they'd reduce nothing - if anything they're a distraction during the day.
In other words, you are seeing the other cars.

THAT'S THE POINT, BK!!!  If you realize the other car is there, you are more likely to be paying attention to it and what the driver of said car is doing, and will be less likely to have an accident with said car.

Let's reverse the situation, BK.  You love getting noticed.  Just think of this as one more way of getting the attention you deserve!

I believe whimsy is "e"-less in its preferred spelling.
Unless you live in Sayersland, in which case it is spelled Wimsey.

What is a meat & 3?
A "Meat & 3" is a restaurant/buffet, where the customer gets to choose one meat dish and three sides.  They are most often found in the South, and usually feature down-home cooking.

Not all down-home cooking is worth writing home about, sad to say.

Lovely falls photo, DerBrucer...here is another...and close to Salem...Silver Creek Falls...as you can see there is a trail here that also takes you behind the falls. It is a beautiful place with a lovely area for picnincing.

Do they also have restrooms nearby, in case the sound of running water triggers a reaction?
